Lake June-in-Winter Florida
So am I to assume that since there have been no responses to this thread that NO ONE in central florida has fished this lake? Maybe I ought to turn the question around......Can anyone suggest a good lake in central florida that has some hawgs in it that is not constantly barraged with tournaments?

Pond Bassers
I have had good luck with chatterbaits, trick worms, and pop r's early and late.....in that order.......for the worms i have used june bug red, red bug, and a custom color that I accidentally discovered. I threw some watermelon reds and some red bugs in the same bag one day and didn't seperate them after my day of fishing..... the next time I went out, the watermelon reds had red splotches in em and the fish ate em up.....no pun intended......caught two 6 lbers and several around 2 lbs each within about 2 hours......been my go-to color since......have had really good luck with them......trick is not leaving them together too long.....they turn totally red if you do....have not had as good luck with the totally red ones. Here are a couple of good ones from my favorite city pond

new balsa baits
Great work there Big M. I have been dabbling with making lures too but can't seem to get the hang of getting my lips straight.....Could I impose upon you for some pointers on how to make sure my lures will run in a straight line when retrieved? I am using all hand tools to make my lures and don't have access to all that fancy stuff. Any help you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Swimbaits in Florida?
I have been reading the praises of swimbaits for trophy bass in the west. Has anyone down here in the florida used them and had similar results or are they strictly a deep water bait?

Cabela's "Inner Cast" rods
Thanks for all the input guys, I think I will take the advice of not wasting my money. I heard that some products are made to catch fisherman, not fish. This sounds like one of them. Too many "cons" to make it worth all the "pros". Thanks again........

Cabela's "Inner Cast" rods
Has anyone ever used one of these rods that has the line threaded through the rod and out the end? Looks like an interesting concept but not sure if it is a quality alternative or just a gimmick. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Tampa/LOL/Wesley Chappel Area
Hey Erich, my name is Dave. I live just a couple of miles from Lake Tarpon, I hear there are some really big fish caught from there, but mostly in the winter time. (January - March). I don't have a boat so have only fished from shore at the very few places that can be fished from shore, but with a boat you can get a lot more places. The outfall canal on the south end of the lake is supposedly the best fishing.

gatrboy, I don't have my own boat so have to rent, guess I am out of luck on that river. I'm hoping to buy a kayak soon. Maybe then I can have better luck. Night fishing spooks me a little though. Don't gators move about at night? You mentioned fishing the grass and mine areas off of main river, tell me more. Also what colors of finesse worms or does that really matter? thanks for the correspondence.

hey gatrboy, You were right about the beautiful creation but unfortunately all we did was see bass. The Rainbow River was very clear and we say lots of bass, some of them were big too, 5 lbers, 7 lbers, and lots of smaller ones, but couldn't get any of them to bite. Maybe next time.
