  1. Enigma Aaron Martens line has a 7'11" MH/Mod that I use which handles 10XD's with ease. Matt Cashion makes a heavy cranking stick. Phenix makes one. iRod makes one. There are a lot of options.
  2. 6" BPS Speed Shad
  3. I use them and the California. With both of those you need to set the hook like a flippin' jig or you will miss a lot of fish. It's a big hook and a big brush guard.
  4. I have a TR-21 but my panel is way less confusing than that and all push button. Did you try to pump water in and it didn't work? If you don't have the bottom plugs in atmospheric pressure will fill them equal to the water line of the lake. That should be more than 6", but you'll have to pump the rest in.
  5. Get a routine. My theory is if no one gets wet you're ahead of the game.
  6. I loathe straight fluoro, but that's what I use on my Senko rig. The sensitivity weightless on slack line is really good.
  7. So this is a Hula Grub without the action?
  8. On a jig it doesn't seem to matter. We had a day earlier this year throwing jig rigs, which is just a more realistic T-rig and they hammered watermelon with red flake Space Monkeys and wouldn't touch any other color of that particular bait. However they wouldn't touch a Noisy Flapper in watermelon with red, but were hammering a traditional craw color. They also wouldn't touch straight braid either, but would hammer a fluoro leader, which is a whole other debate. I treat it as though it doesn't matter until it does. That seems to work well.
  9. Like I said, weed out the dinks. I haven't caught a bass under 2lbs on a swim Jig or a chatterbait since making the change. Those Mogambos are great on a scrounger as well.
  10. Kalin Mogambo Grub if you want to weed out the dinks.
  11. If the technique didn't come from Japan I'm probably not interested. Those guys fish in infinitely tougher conditions that we do, so if something is working above average there I want to know about it.
  12. The small RI Sweet Beaver for me. I didn't catch many good fish on them so I don't use them anymore really but it sure does get bit rigged that way.
  13. I usually fish them on a jig rig in and around cover and they are very productive in a C-rig as well. Weight depends on depth and cover like every technique. I've never tried them on a shaky head but I could see that being a good setup as well.
  14. It's slightly over your price range but a Lamiglas Pro-X 735 will be a great rod for what you want.
  15. Deep canyon lakes are primarily the only thing I get to fish so I will throw out a quick tip. If you are catching small fish, there are usually larger fish there as well. There is something there like a main lake point, large rocks, bottom transition, submerged cover like grass or trees, etc. Move your boat to water that is ten to twenty feet deeper and match your technique accordingly. If you were sticking dinks on a square bill in ten feet of water change to a 15' crank bait if you are now fishing in thirty. Up your weight if you are using bottom contact and so on. Then be patient. There are less bigger fish and they aren't as easy to catch.
  16. Yes! That's the only true worm type I Neko with. I only normally only fish four colors. Blackish, junebug, GP, and craw/red. I do have a pack of the Violator color because the name sounded cool. Robo for drop shot, High Tail for shaky head, and Flirt Worm for Neko. You can't go wrong. I would recommend two more Neko baits. The GYBC California Roll and those centipede baits with the actual arms. Use an O-ring like a wacky rig to save yourself money.
  17. Pre-spawn smallies love them some deep diving crank baits.
  18. I have one and I love it. It throws 6 and 10XD's really well. I throw A-rigs and glide baits on it as well. For the price of admission it is definitely worth it. The craftsmanship is on par with any rod in the $200-$300 range.
  19. I use a Duckett Terex 7' M/F and it does the job really well. The tip is soft enough for treble hooks but handles grinding the bill through rocks. The butt section has a enough power to handle any bass out there.
  20. I thought this thread was going to be bringing bass back from the dead, which you can do and it's crazy! They are literally zombies!
  21. I've got about every high end rod type out there and my favorite rod by a mile is my Phenix UMBX 707ML. I bought an 893 NRX and the 707ML to see which one I would want more for those lighter weights and it wasn't even close. On that flip side I got an 894 NRX recently and I've had the 707MH for a long time and I can already tell after two trips the 894 is the far superior rod. Tons of companies make great rods, but as far as ML casting rods the MBX 707 got it right.
  22. I have two that I bank fish reaction baits with and they work fine.
  23. Someone who is a lot better than me at lizard dragging told me to get a Power Tackle Paragon 104-76 so I ordered it yesterday. It seems to have all the boxes checked to be able to handle anything within the spectrum of that technique, which is large.
  24. There is plenty of room and a Snell will increase your hookup ratio, it's simple physics.
  25. Both of my 5lb smallies were on the smallest Panther Martin they make.
