Wacky rigging
So do you guys usually fish the wacky rig with a weighted hook or weightless? I have been fishing it around 1'-7' deep so I have been just throwing weightless but what works better for you guys? What depths should the wacky rig be fished and am I fishing it in the right areas? I usually fish it around 2 types of water biomes (lily pads next to snady bottom)

Wacky rigging
Yeah if you could send me that video that would be great! I already have a fly tying kit so that would work out great. I used o-rings. So you are putting the hook all the way through the worm? Is there a picture you can show me so i know how to do it?

That makes more sense. Is there a certain brand and size hook that works really well for you? please let me know bc I am also trying to get some more hooks. the lakes I fish are very weedy so I have to keep that in mind with a possible weed guard.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. It could be, but each time I feel/see a hit, ill reel up the slack and (try to) set the hook and most of the time the bait either flies out of the water and back at me, or the fish starts to run left with it. (its always left I have noticed) So i think their bass, but they might be smaller bass because in MN there is a lot of small bass in the lakes i fish this time of year.

Just clearing things up, but what is a bream? I live in MN and have never heard of that term used.

That's my plan, but here's one that I did catch. I know for sure that it is the 6'6" rod length, but should I consider looking at other rods for soft plastics or will this work?

I am unsure of the rating of the rod but I believe it is a vortex gm rod if that helps. The hook that I was using was given to me last year so I don't remember the brand but the weed guard is very thin

Wacky rigging
After my first time using the wacky rig, and seeing how effective it really is, I am having difficulty with hooking bass. I caught my first few bass using it this weekend, but the bass would have to strike the bait 2-10 before I could finally get a solid hook set on them. So my question is, What can I use to be more efficient at hooking bass either 1 or 2 times and not taking so many tries? Is this a problem with the hooks I am using (I was using a wacky rig hook with a weed guard), or is it my rod? Thanks, Luke

Slide to the right, Slide to the left - my kayak
Hello fellow kayak anglers, So I have been out on my kayak a few times and I've noticed this problem with my kayak. When I'm gliding in my kayak (often times sight fishing) one en of my kayak turns left or right and I come into my target area sideways or 10 ft off. Is there anyway to fix this, Is this a defect and will i have to buy another kayak, or is this normal? thanks

Bringing them out into the light - Bass under docks
There are a few spots but it is a very tough cast because the dock is so low to the water.

Bringing them out into the light - Bass under docks
Fellow anglers, I consistently fish a little lake not to far from where I live. There is one public dock and out of curiosity I look between the cracks into the water to look for fish. Last year I started to notice tons of crappies and a few bass here and there. I did this again yesterday to find two really nice sized bass. I dropped a good looking jig between the cracks to my surprise both of them swam at it to pick it up then drop it a few times. My question is, how do I get the bass to either a - Get the bass to come out of under the dock b - Catch the bass through the dock Thanks

I knew about the catch and release stuff but I thought it was always mothers day was the opener. Yeah in MN there is a close season where you cant fish for bass, northern, muskie, or walleye. Panfish is open all season I believe.

Its so tough Went out yesterday and day to many good spots for bass that I would have loved to fish but because of the dumb MN DNR we aren't allowed to fish them I believe MN and WI are the only 2 states left with restrictions on bass fishing

I cant wait for may 8th when fishing opener for Minnesota finally kicks off. Seems like every other state is already fishing for every type of fish Does anyone know why the season opener is so late and if there is any information on changes? thanks

Deeper vs iBobber vs FishHunter
I did a little research on the deeper and ibobber. The ibobber is cheaper, yet not as good at finding fish as the deeper. I currently have the ibobber and have experienced many difficulties causing me to think the deeper would be a better option. So you get what you pay for.

Best lake in Minneapolis to film a commercial
if you want a really quiet lake, there is one tucked away in north north Minneapolis almost robbinsdale called ryan lake If you go on a sunny day around dusk you will see the sun fade into the trees and its a nice. there is hardly any people on it much less on the water fishing. also, Lake of the isles is a great spot

Go big or Go home? baits eddition
howdy, I am wondering if I should start to fish bigger baits than I normally do. Because I live in Minnesota, the fish here don't get as nearly as big as they do in the southern states I usually fish baits in the 1 in to 4.5 inch range but I am wondering if i should increase that for bigger bass. I fish relatively small because that is around the size of the forage up here. But on the contrary I have caught a 1.5 pound bass with a half pound bullhead siting in its throat. I have heard the phrases "big baits catch big fish" and "you don't need a big bait to catch a big fish" but am still unsure I also like to catch quantity over qualty but that will probably change will the baits I use I am hopping to catch a new PB this year and just have more success in general with catching big fish Thanks for reading
