Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Here's a link to a partner/supplier to just about all of the 2 man boat and kayak manufacturers. This link is to the patch/repair kit part of the website but the website also sells parts and accessories as well as owner's manuals, etc. The patch repair kit is designed for these types of boats (HDPE...high density polyethylene). Just an FYI for anyone needing the info. http://www.pedalboat.com/oz/0/cps/patch/patch.html

Bass / Ski / Family boat suggestions
The problem with fish & ski boats is that they excel at neither fishing nor skiing. You'd probably be better off buying a decent used ski boat and then also getting maybe a used bass boat (like an aluminum Bass Tracker if money is tight).

For Us KC Area Guys - Fishing Reports
One of our buddies had a 100 fish day there yesterday. Several good smallies and largies and wipers. Definitely lots of fish to be caught in that lake.

Favorite crank bait Rod
Yes, best crankin rods IMO too and I'm lucky enough to still have one of the 7' M Pro Glass. And just got another Shimano Curado 200B5 to put back on that rod...IMO it's the best pairing rod & reel for crankin. I'm a happy camper now! :-)

P Line Tactical Fluorocarbon
I just purchased a BOGO too. And so far I'm pretty pleased with it. Have only used it on a spinning reel twice for shakyhead and dropshot and it's been pretty decent.

Bass Hunter type vs. Jon Boat
The main disadvantage to a flat bottom aluminum jon boat is stability...or lack thereof.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Well I finally took the time last night to clean off all the silicone caulk and used a 2 part epoxy to reseal the 4 areas that are sources of water intrusion on my BassHound 9.4 (the livewell drain plug area, the boat drain plug area, and the two spots where the manufacturer injects foam in between the top and bottom of the boat). Hopefully the epoxy will bond with the plastic like it's supposed to and won't allow water in like the silicone did. Boat got a little heavy a few times last year. Lol Planning on hitting some strip pits with it in a couple weeks.

Do it, you get warranty with brand new ones. And the peace of mind that there probably won't be anything wrong with it at least right off the bat. But even if there is, it'll be coveredby that warranty. I've seen so many used ones going for new or even higher than new prices myself. Got fairly lucky with my BassHound 9.4...used but great shape and had no mods done to it and got it for @ $450 (retail new is like $1100 for them). But had to go through a couple dozen or more high priced before I found this one.

Sorry, it's been a couple years since I've fished it. But you oughta be able to get em on spinnerbaits, squarebills, and jigs now.

Unfortunate incident with fellow angler.
The guy was right...that you don't own the lake...but neither does he! I've had my share of run ins like that with total d-bags. Most times I've just kinda had to let it go and pick up and move on but there's been a few times there's been some words exchanged but have never really had any physical confrontations. (With the exception of a few 2oz egg sinkers being sent in the direction of an opposing watercraft). Lol

Finesse Cranks
To me the Bandits (100, 200, 300) are finesse cranks...but I also catch a ton of fish on them, including big ones! Have been a fan of Bandits since I started throwing them over 15 yrs ago.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
That's one of the reasons I went the BassHound, I can put 3 rods on each side...4 on each side can be done but starts to be a pain at that point. I am going to be going with some kind of tod strap/bungee strap system this year for a little extra safety though.

Wasn't necessarily saying that this applies to you right here right now and in this instance. Was just putting it out there in general to everyone who thinks using silicone caulk only as a sealant will work. Just trying to help the group overall.

Any Pelican Bass Raider Owners Out There?
Any waves or rain can get water inside the hull that way. And I was wrong, it's not Sun Dolphin who has the repair kit. It's Pedal Boats website that has it. The way I found out is I bought my BassHound 9.4 used and it has a livewell in it and noticed the drain plug area was allowing water in as well as the 2 areas on the aft that they used to inject the floatation foam inside the hull were taking on water, due mostly to age I assume, I tried to use silicone caulk...it didn't work so started doing some research and found out about HDPE and the HPDE cement/epoxy. Also installed the base for my gps/depthfinder on the lid for the battery compartment and used screws/silicone.

Not trying to be a party pooper, but found out the hard way myself, silicone caulk won't work long term on these type of boats. They are made of HDPE (high density polyethylene) and caulk will not adhere to them and will begin to allow water inside the shell. There is a HPDE glue you can get from Sun Dolphin I believe and it will actually adhere to the plastic and then use the caulk over it.
