  2. Hey all. This past summer I found my love for deep cranking and throwing large crankbaits. I'm looking into a Quantum Tour KVD 7'11" Heavy or 7'10" medium heavy. I just thought I'd ask for the guys who own this rod considering I've never personally handled one...I'm looking to throw 8 and 10XD's but also KVD 8.0's and 6XD's. I've pretty much decided on the 7'11" Heavy, I just want to make sure I'm not overpowering a 8.0 or 6XD on it? Thanks.
  3. I'm from and fish in NH. I have my whole life. There's very high quality and healthy smallie fishing along with great largemouth fishing and even crappie. The chain pickerel around here can grow very large and put up a good fight, along with pike.
  4. I too, fish mostly from a kayak. Thanks everybody for the information today. I very much appreciate it.
  5. Hey guys, I've been getting into shallow crankbait fishing big the past couple seasons and have been adding to my deep cranking lineup. The problem is, I'm not sure what to get for deep cranking. I'm from New Hampshire, and as many people know it's good for smallmouth and decent sized largemouth fishing. The deepest I have fished a crank over the past few seasons were about 10-12 feet (SK 3XD). I've been curious if anybody has experimented with the deep cranking up here? What's the biggest and deepest I can go? I know that the SK 10XD and 8XD and the Lucky Craft M120's can go up to 30+ feet. But I'm not quite confident in the size. Since largemouth don't grow as big as they do where the magnum baits were meant to be thrown, I guess I'm left with the question: Do MAGNUM baits really work in a very northern place like NH? Thank you all. Steven
  6. Thank you very much guys, I will definitely keep this information and it will be very helpful for me in the future.
  7. Hey guys, I have been doing some research and have got different results from everyone. Shaw Grigsby uses a 20 foot fluorocarbon leader and some people use 24" leaders. I have 20 pound braid on my baitcaster and was wondering what would be the best size leader and what pound test would be ideal? I will mostly be using this setup for spinnerbaits, crankbaits, chatterbaits, and buzzbaits. Thanks! Steven
