  1. Wondering if anyone fishes the St Joe river in Constantine or Three Rivers. Im tired of fishing the same stretches of river in Indiana, so I figured I would give it a try further up north. In specific I'm wondering whether there is a population of smallmouth even worth giving it a shot, or if they are dominated by Largemouth.
  2. I'm going above Constantine stretch of river (below three rivers) and am curious of any tips. I assume it has smallmouth and largemouth like the other stretches of river. From the aerial views, it seems like this time of year I need to bring some frogging and flipping gear. Also does this stretch get stocked annually or at all with walleye?
  3. Recently bought a 70 lb Maxxum for my 17 ft Laser Bass boat and I am wondering what problems I will have since i purchased a 52 inch shaft vs a 42 inch. What would be some advantages and disadvantages?
  4. I have used Dakota Lakes before. A couple styles don't run good. I like the square bills though.
  5. I do custom airbrushing and was wondering if anyone knew of a place to buy quality hardbaits ( jerkbaits that actually suspend with most treble hooks, crankbaits that run true, larger selection of baits).
  6. I am a novice lure painter, (mostly using airbrush) and i have used some of the chrome paint colors, but nothing that actually reflects light anything similar to a chrome lure one would buy at the store. I would really like to get a chrome lipless crank for the beginning of the season. Any advice/experience would be appreciated.
  7. I'm sure I will have a similar experience. But fishing in manmade channels that warm early, I've heard of crazier things.
  8. Season is just opening up in about a month, and I'm wondering in what water temps some of you have successfully used a buzz bait. I know it is not an extremely popular early prespawn lure, but curious if anyone has experience with it. Same question for a buzzing frog as well such as a Strike King Rage toad.
  9. When I say bright, i mean like a chartreuse, white, or bright oranges. Obviously swim jigs and other baits work with these colors, but you dont see many football or pitching jigs in these colors and I was curious if they catch fish as well.
  10. I know other jig colors obviously work, but I'm very interested in a possible edge in local tournaments. Mostly fisheries with both smallmouth and largemouth, but usually largemouth dominated. Would love to hear advice from anyone who uses them, especially if with success. I particularly like jigs with an ewg hook to make it even more weedless with a trailer on it.
  11. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Rapala_X-Rap/descpage-RXR.html https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Berkley_Powerbait_Chigger_Craw/descpage-BPCN.html These are my 2 go to baits for river/creek smallmouth. I think the jerkbait will get more bites, but the craw seems to get a bigger bite more often than not.
  12. Definitely go with a jerkbait. It will get the active fish. But also bring along a few craw imitations as well. I have experience in fishing small creeks and they can be a blast. Smallmouth prefer brighter colors as well. I like "clown" the best. Make sure to fish the deeper holes more thoroughly.
  13. Looking for a swimbait head with a hook bigger than 5/0, about a half hounce for damiki anchovy shad. I am not a fan of the Damiki pandla jighead.
  14. It is compatible with Helix 7 which is what I am leaning toward the most.

  16. Recently bought a boat to fix up and I'm wondering if anyone out there has a bit of advice whether to get a unit for the front deck or one by the console. I prefer humminbird or lowrance. Im not looking to spend a lot. somewhere between 500-700. Eventually I will then buy a better second unit. I've heard Humminbird is more user friendly, but I've also heard that lowrances can be great. Also if anyone's thoughts on autochart.
