Where can I get a replacement spool pin?
Just a quick update. I have been trading emails with Zebco/Quantum for a few days now. They have always responded withen 1 day and been very helpfull. They just needed all the info to make sure they have the correct part. The Email they sent today explained that the pin is not serviced by itself. It's only serviced as the whole assembly(spool, bearing, and pin). Then he asked for my address so he could send me one. Didn't ask for and money just an address. Great customer service

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
I do have a twin brother but he also went to Adams Central. If there was another one of us at Northfield it must have been a long lost triplet lol. The funny thing is there was a Josh Smith a grade or two behind me at AC and when I first saw your screen name I wondered if you were him. I have fished Salamone a few times in the past but only from my father in law's boat. If I'm going to drive that far too fish I usually head north to Rochester and fish from at my seasonal camp site. I did pretty well last year in the Wabash when the water was really high. Haven't had much luck since. Tyler

I grew up in Monroe Indiana and attended Adams Central from kendergarden all the way to graduation. I didn't move this dirrection until 5-6 years ago. I did work overnights at the Walmart in Wabash up until October of last year so if you went shopping between 9 pm and 6 am there is a good chance you saw me there or maybe we crossed paths fishing, my regular spots and Mississinewa spilway and the omer cole public access sight. I've been looking for better sights to fish since I moved here but there are just so many no tresspassing signs around that I tend to gravitate to public access or go up to the campground where my boat lives. Have you had any luck this year? I've been out a few times and came up empty. My father in law was doing really well at red bridge threw the ice lots of slab crappies and a few undersized smallies and walleye.

Where can I get a replacement spool pin?
Thank you guys for your responces. I sent an email to the Zebco/Quantum support center. Hopefully I can get a new pin at a reasonable price. I don't think the spool itself is damaged. I didn't press anything into the hole. My make shift pin is a lose fit in the hole I think thats why its rubbing on something it does not stay centered it just floats around until it rubs whatever it's hitting. If it comes to needing a spool I'll probably just keep using it as is. It was an ebay buy and I only got it because it was part of a lot deal so I'm not sure how much I'm willing to invest in fixing it. The thing sure does cast well so I would like to fix it if its a cheap fix. Tyler

Where can I get a replacement spool pin?
Last year I was doing maintnence on my reels and used the wrong tools and tequniques to remove the spool pin from my quantum Team KVD baitcasting reel (model kvd100hw-j2). I broke the spool pin and learned a lesson on using the right tool for the job. After I broke the pin I did manage to get the pieces out of the spool and put it back together using a make shift pin I made out of a drill bit cut to lenght. I fished it all last season and it worked ok but alwasy had a rubbing noise while casting. I'm sure the noise is that make shift pin rubbing the reel frame. Anyway I'm getting my gear ready for this season and would like to get a replacement pin for this reel. I'm just not sure where to get a pin. I don't know if they are a standard part that fits many brands of if I need one made for that exact reel. Thanks for and advice you guys have. Tyler

The post man droped off a new to me reel today. Some of you might recognize it from the flea market forum. It was titled a Man's reel and the description was very funny. I after I got it I spolled it up and mounted it to an old ugly stick rod that was waiting for a good cheap reel with a clicker. out of the box it was screamming on casts so I pulled the side plate off and brushed the levelwind gears teeth and gave it a drop of oil. Now it behaves perfectly and will throw a 1 oz piece of lead clear out of sight. Tyler

Music in the boat?
I don't have a radio in my boat so I usually go without music while I'm alone and bass fishing. When I'm out with the whole family we tend to drop anchor and target the panfish. My wife or one of the kids will usually have something playing from thier phone. I have never thought it effected the bite at least no more than the normal conversations we would have anyway with a boat full of people. If the kids get to dancing and stomping thier feet to the music I sometimes put a stop to it other times I let them have at it. Just depends on the day we're there to have fun. If we can fill the livewell all the better, but fun takes priorety over number of fish caught when the kids are aboard. Tyler

Uses for old fishing rods? Browning Boron and Shimano Speed Master
Thank you for the replies. I did put reels on them that I had laying around. An abu silver max on the boron rod and an H2O xpress mettle on the Speed Master. Then my 14 year old son and I took them in the yard and threw some practice plugs around. I really like the way that boron rod loads up on the cast. It won't chuck a plug as far as my 7 foot *** but for short to medium range casting it was pretty impressive. The speed master casts well too.

Uses for old fishing rods? Browning Boron and Shimano Speed Master
Last fall my Father-in-law was cleaning out his barn and gave me a pile of old fishing rods and reels. Most were just old low cost combos that will be good enough for the kids to use but nothing special. He told me that these 2 rods were fairly expencive rods back in the 80's when he got them. I took them out last year but the reels he had mounted on them were pretty worn out bearing were screaming and casting distance was not up to par. Over the winter I upgraded the reels on some of my other gear so I have extra reels to put these rods into service if they are any good. So What do you guys think are they keepers or not. If they are keepers what lures and techniques are these short pistol grip rods good for. Rod 1 Browning Boron Model 112902 length 5' 6" pistol grip Rod 2 Shimano SpeedMaster Fightin' Rod model SW-1552 medium action pistol grip Thanks Tyler
