Small Boat Depth Finder
Below is a pic of the boat I have. Was looking into possibly getting a depth finder, maybe the dragonfly? Or would a depth finder even be worth it/work on this type of boat? I mainly fish lakes 10' to 40'. Any input is appreciated.

Bass Fishing Youtube Videos
This is exactly why I was asking... Every time I search something I find that the top videos are mainly just advertisements or are way too "extreme". The bass resource videos are usually the ones I'm watching. I've literally learned so much since this winter when I stumbled upon this site. Reading the forums and watching videos have helped me out a lot. But sometimes I want to see something different like underwater videos kind of like the show "Hook and Look" for example. It's crazy to see how your movements with the rod translate to the bait down below.... Nothing against the videos here I love em.

Flipping fluro vs. braid
Would a 25 lb Fluro leader be a good idea around heavy timber/laydowns instead of straight braid?

High Percentage Techniques per Season
This year has gone like this for me so far on the lake I fish. Pre-Spawn: Chatterbait or Lipless Crankbait Spawn: Beaver style bait Pitched to their beds Post-Spawn: Spinnerbait/Squarebill Crankbait/Buzzbait (almost every fish during this time I caught this year had a bluegill tail sticking out of their throat) Summer: 1/2 oz or 3/8 oz Jig with a Rage Craw trailer pitched into shallow brush piles.

Crankbait Adjustments/Customizations
I went with the VMC hooks as I had already purchased them. I think the biggest reason the stock hook bent on the first fish was mainly my fault. Had I played the fish better I think it would have held up fine, but in the excitement of almost landing another big one I wasn't thinking straight. We had a terrific day yesterday (posting a few more of some of them we caught) but I started noticing something with the fishes tails that you can see in the pics. All of their back fins on the bottom were worn away. Not like the typical bedding fish tail either, plus these fish have already bedded and finished. They were almost all extremely tight to cover and shallow. So I was curious as to what is going on with their tails??

Crankbait Adjustments/Customizations
See I thought I had my drag fairly loose. It doesn't dig into the spool when pulling off is usually where I keep it for my crankbaits. I was playing the fish so I could lip it and it made one final surge away from the boat when the hook straightened out. I think what my problem may have been was the rod was pointing straight at the fish for the moment he started to make a run so the rod couldn't absorb some of that and instead the hook bent. My question now is how do you know what lb your drag is set at when you are adjusting it? I changed my 1.5 KVDs hooks to size #4 VMC X1 strong treble hooks. Is that too big of a hook?

Crankbait Adjustments/Customizations
Ok so I have a few questions after today. I had a giant 6 plus pounder today bend a hook on my KVD squarebill and get away... (the worst feeling ever). So shortly after fishing I purchased a net and VMC #4 treble hooks. So I was wondering what other upgrades are there that some of you do? Does the same size hook for both the front and back of the crankbait cause any problems? What size hooks do you use? Also any other tips/tricks are greatly appreciated... Thanks guys

Lews reel?
I own a few Lews reels and absolutely love them. The Pro G is my favorite and the workhorse. I was blown away when I purchased that compared to my curados.

(Un)official Hoosiers Thread
They way I see it is I couldn't afford a trailer at the time and loading and unloading a Jon boat really isn't that bad as long as you don't rush it. However it isn't as convienent as having a trailer but I'll take the minor inconvenience if that means I can get out on the water and hit those spots I've been eyeing for the past years from the shore.

I recently purchased a sun dolphin 8' boat with a few custom add on from a guy for 700. trolling motor, battery, nice seats and a few other things. Best purchase I have made in awhile it's light weight can get in and out of places most boats can't and perfect for two ppl.

I know the bait shop just as you are entering the strip pit area from Linton has a handful of aluminum Jon boats out front for sale. Don't know the price but I'm assuming they may be a little pricey considering his prices for everything else. But may be worth a look if you're down there.

Limited at some pits and zero at others. Check the maps on google like you are and you may find some places to fish but I would, if possible, get out on the lakes.

I visit the strip pits in Linton/Dugger about twice a year. I would suggest going to airline pit in Linton. Right around the corner from that pit is Grambill the fish aren't very big in Grambill but you will catch a lot. Both airline and Grambill have crystal clear water and is amazing seeing all the underwater life swimming around. The scenery alone is almost worth it. I caught this 5.25lb bass this Saturday out of airline.

Staying hooked up with frogs

Staying hooked up with frogs
I use 50lb braid right now and a 7.2:1 reel Any fish I get a good hook set on in thick stuff like weeds or Lily's I've been able to get a good percentage of them in the boat.. It's the ones in open water that I feel I am loosing more often. Should I be setting the hook with my whole body or is that just the name of the game having them on and losing them on the way to the boat?

Staying hooked up with frogs
I've had multiple good sized bass here recently get off after setting the hook and fighting with them. I wait until I see they have it then set the hook I will feel the weight of them and see them fighting but they end up getting off. After 20-30 seconds or so. I just switched my frogging rod to a MH 7'3" Rod which feels more heavy than anything. Am I setting the hook to hard and pulling it out of their mouth with the heavier Rod ? or not setting the hook hard enough?

Need Advice!!
Hey guys, there is a 7 or 8 acre pond I fish by my house from a boat. The pond is fairly clear and can see about 7 foot down. The only thing I know about the structure and cover is what I can see on the bank. A few trees fallen in the water here and there with mostly a sandy bottom. The bank drops off almost immediately into pretty deep water of which I don't truly know how deep this place is. I've only caught smaller fish and know there are big ones but haven't had much luck. I was hoping to get some advice to help me out. How would some of you approach this type of water?

Crankbait Rod Advice
Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new Rod and reel for crankbaits. I'll be getting another Lew's Tournament Pro for the reel as I love that reel but I've recently started to delve deeper into crankbait fishing. Mainly square bills but that could change the more I get into it. So my question is what would be a good Rod for crankbaits between $100 and $150. Also what type of line is preferred. Any help is appreciated thanks guys!
