Finally
Well first I would just like to say Hi to everyone, Im not new here, just havent been to this site in a REALLY long time. Ok, so... I just got back into fishing(hardcore) and have tried to get out at least a few hours everyday since spring. Early on around prespawn I was getting a good number of fish each time out. Most were just lb'ers, but some were pretty decent hawgs, the biggest being what looked like a 5lb+ that ended up snapping my line as i was reaching for it in the water(still mad to this day). So as time has past, I have started putting some more money into fishing, and buying things such as scales so I could actually weight the fish, and lures of all kinds and rod/reels. Then as the weather got hotter, it became harder to even get a bite, and when I would get one it would just be a little dink or a dang pickerel haha. These last two weeks have been the hardest, and it seemed that there was no longer any fish in these waters(or so I would like to blame it on). I knew if I kept at it I would end up finally catchin a break. Well, lastnight I was in the basement looking though old boxes when I came across some old plastic lures of mine from 7 or more years ago. One being an unopened pack of Storm 4" black/blue crawfish. So today I went fishing and first tried my normal routine....nothing, again as if there was no life in the water. I was thoughing KVDs, berkleys, all the stuff that looks real fancy and some that look so good even I want to eat em hahaha. So just before leaving I remembered the old, falling apart bag of Storm crawfish I put in my box, I figured what the hell I might as well. I rigged it up texas style and work it along the bottom down the edge of a bed of lilly pads. But the only thing that did was collect a bunch of weeds cause of the weight. On my final cast I had all but given up, when I decided to though it into the lillys instead. I let it sink again to no avail. So I began reelin it in fast bringin it across the top of the pads just so I could leave, and thats when everything changed. All of a sudden a huge splash about 5 feet out from me, that scared the crap outta me, but even worse I missed the fish. I quickly cast back out, and just as it got to the same spot the splash again, and again it was a miss, so for a third time I cast it back out, this time using a stop and go retrieve. I stopped it where I was getting the hits and BAM, this time it was hooked. The fish jumped from the water and then after seeing it I thought I would never manage getting it in as I am only using 12lb mono. So I just muscled it across the top and grab it as fast as I could, and In that moment all the stress of not catchin any the last couple weeks was lifted of me. I know its not a monster by most standerds, but this is the first fish that was decent in size and that I could finally weight and since I know is my current pb. The scale read 3.68lbs(around 3lb,10oz) I also punched in the meaurments online lenght=18" girth= 13" and it sayes 4lbs, 1oz but Im going with what the scale sayes cause I dont know which is more accurate. After putting the fish back in the water and watchin it swim off I decided to end on a good note and just packed up and left. Hope I didn't ramble to much, I just got the fishin high right now. hahaha

Need help with reel.
Well after geting the schematic and taking it all apart everything was in the right place. I put it back together but it was still tight.I thought that it was coming from around the spool, so I looked at it and then took off the two little white blocks on the centrifugal brake and it was fixed spinning perfectly. When I put them back on it is tight again. Do those white blocks need to be there or can I just leave them off?

Need help with reel.
Ok, so I see I screwed up pretty good. Now I want to fix that. I read online that you are not supposed to put oil in some places. Of course, I had done this already and put oil in every nook and cranny I could find, as well as down in the reel. When I take it apart into 2 halves, the side with the reel will rotate perfectly. Its not until I put them both together that it is hard to turn the reel . The line spool turns, but just not very well. If I do have to take this fully apart, what can I do to pinpoint the exact problem?

Need help with reel.
The reel I use is an Abu Garcia ambassadeur 4600C3, and yesterday I took it apart for the first time because it needed to be oiled. So after I was done I tryed puting it back together and had a problem fitting it together again, whitch led to also taking off the reel. I finaly got it all put back together, but now when I try to turn the reel its pretty hard to turn. What happened? could it be I didn't put the reel back on right?

Gut hooking
Hey, I want to know what you are supposed to do when you catch a fish that has been gut hooked? I have read that you should try to get the hook out, but have also heard that you should leave the hook and cut the line a couple of inches out of the fishes mouth. What do you do? Also is there any way to help not getting the fish gut hooked besides those circle hooks? I have not yet had this happen to me but want to be ready for when it does.

Pond fishing in the rain
It has been raining the last couple a days all day. I dont just throw into the middle I also throw along the bushes hanging over the water but never get fish there. The biggest bass I'v seen come out of the pond was out of the middle. Your thread was great, it diffinetly helps.

Pond fishing in the rain
I go out at like 8:00 in the morning, there is light but it has not hit the water yet. It's usually just a normal rain shower. I have caught lots of bass in the pond when I cast plasitc worms or spinnerbait to the middle of the pond, but never when it rains.

Pond fishing in the rain
Hello, I would like to know what some thoughts are on what the best lures are to use in a pretty big pond when its raining. Every time I go in the rain I use T-style dark worms and spinner baits, and never get any fish. I will be going tomorrow morning, the forcast says it will rain. The pond has lots of weeds coming up from the buttom and trees hanging over the sides.the deepest part is around 15 feet and I will be fishing from the the shore. What do you think would be good to use?

Using Inflatable boats
http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/fishplc.htm I found this site with a bunch of different criteria listed for each lake. What does it mean car top launch is ok? Is inflatable boat under car top launch category? If you click that link, and go to warren county-ghost lake it says you can have car top launch and electric outboards. So does this mean inflatable boats are allowed?

Using Inflatable boats
I have a question about using inflatable boats in NJ. Were can you use them and how do you find out if it is allowed? I know some places have a sign that say "No inflatables". The inflatable boat I have has no motor. How do I go about finding out? Or can I just take it any were that doesn't have a sign.

NJ pond fishing
Thanks for the tip, I'v been testing it out and wanted to know if you hold the rod strait out and roll the lure, or if you hold the rod to the side. I can get it to go farther when I hold it to the side.

NJ pond fishing
Ok so I went fishing this afternoon using noting but plastic worms and other soft plastic baits, and didn't get a bite. My problem with the worms is I can't get it out far enough to the over-hanging trees or out the middle where I get stuff with the spinners. When I cast a worm it lands not far from me and when I use spinner I can get them very far out. But with the worm I use 3/8 bullet weights and the spinner is also 3/8 so why cant I get it far? Also I use T-riged worms and wacky, and I know you have to fish them slow but since I cant get tem out far it doesn't feel as if I have them in the water long enough. How long do you think each cast should be out in the water?

NJ pond fishing
Yeah it was late last night and I was thinking of a different time. Although the bass was huge, it was one of the biggest I'v seen. I remember the man saying that it was 9 pounds. Thanks for all the info. Dylan

This happened to me yesterday when I was fishing a spinner near the top of the water, and the fish was pretty big.

NJ pond fishing
Hi, I'm am new here to Bassresource and have a couple of qustions. I used to know some stuff about fishing for LM but over time forgot it all. I havent been fishing In 5 years, so three days ago I found all my gear and decided to go fishing the next morning. I live fairly close to a pond that is not that big and not to deep but a good size. And you can see a couple of feet down in the water. So anyhow the next morning I went fishing and after a few casts I caught a decent sized LM. Then after a couple more casts I caught a 1.5 foot LM that was about 5 pounds, then when I had the fish out off the water the fish got out off my hands with the lure in its mouth. The line broke and it swam off with my spinner. Ever since then I have not been able to get even a bite. Then I went back the following morning and again did not get anything using a 3/8 spinner and then another fishermen came up with a buzz bait and on his second cast landed a 6 pounder, and I had nothing. I fish from the side of the pond and its only cover is lots of weeds coming from the bottom and trees hanging over the water, there are also lots of small fish. I have only ever caught LM with spinner baits and have seen them caught with buzz bait. One time there was a guy that came when I was fishing and I was not getting anything, on his first cast he caught a LM that was around 12-14 pounds. I have tryed plastics but never get any thing so the only thing I use is spinner baits that are 3/8 and fish them fast or slow. I would like to start getting some fish and start using a wider range of lures. Is there anyone with tips on what and how to use stuff that will work in this pond? The gear I use are: 10 pound test line yellow with white spinner bait- 3/8 Have tried plastic Creme worms texes style but never get anything. Tsunami swim baits-and get noting My pole is a 6'6" Bionic Blade. And a bait casting reel - Abu Garcia-ambassadeur 46003. Sorry for my mistake wording and spelling I'm about to pass out.
