What advantage would a higher gear ratio have? For instance a Lew's Tournament MB TS1SHMB Speed Spool (Outfitter Warehouse $108.92) has 10 ball bearings with a 7.5:1 ratio whereas the TS1XHMB (Outfitter Warehouse $ 92.58) has 10 ball bearings with a 8.3:1 ratio. I understand that it reels the lure in faster but what would you need such a high ratio for?

Would you jump on the Lew's Orange Crush Speed Spool for $110? Or is the Tournament MB at $110 a better option?

Let me ask you guys a question...I know years ago we used to add stuff like BaitMait to our soft plastics. Is this still something that you use? Is it even needed since most soft plastic manufacturers put additives in their baits these days? Thoughts?

All I do is bank fishing. No boat. I guess it would help with the bushes. In Atlanta I still haven't found a place that had the big hogs in it. Only 1 -2 pounders. Might be overkill.

I would use it for bass. Also what would you throw with it? Jigs, worms?

I have the opportunity to get two brand new 6'6" Ugly Stik GX2 heavy action casting rods. These things are like pool cues. Wow! They are rated for 20lb to 50lb line. What reel would you pair these with? I am on a budget so it would need to be under $100.
