  1. Thanks a lot on your responses! I should have followed my instinct when I had doubts on the sales guy's recommendation on the line. Unfortunately, I already open the line so it might be too late for a replacement ( I asked him to put the line on the reel at the store as it was 'free of charge'). Anyways, I will look for a new and smaller weight line and will just keep the 17LB on my box for now. Again, thanks!
  2. Hi everyone, I am a newbie and starting to get the fun out of fishing. Yesterday, I went to gander mountain and 'upgraded' my equipment to a st croix premier rod PS70MLF spinning rod and a Pflueger supreme reel SP30x. I was the one who actually picked the rod and asked for a suggestion from one of the guys from gander on what he can recommend if i pick a pflueger. I followed his advice and pick the supreme reel (plus the fact that it fits my budget). I also asked him to picked what he thinks is a good line and he said to pick the medium price fishings lines like the spider wire ultimate mono 17lb. At first I asked wouldn't it be too much for my rod and my reel (mainly because I was only accustomed on having only a 6Lb line on my old uglystick combo. He said the 17lb line should be fine and can be easily handled by my new rod and reel. And so I did, I got the line that he recommended. What do you think of the rod and reel that I got? Also, I want to get your opinion if the 17 LB is fine and won't harm my new rod and reel. I will only fish on lakes here in Minnesota in which bass is very common (and walleyes but I still have to catch one). I don't see myself going on a boat and fish (I don't have a boat nor my friends). Just on docks and lakesides. Also I got the gander mountain protection for the reel and rod just in case something happens on them I can easily ask for a replacement. Thanks in advance.
