Kipawa Trolling Motor Props
what tm do you have? also if you can guess-timate how much faster you are, that might help us as well. for example, if you made a run on x lake, and it usually takes 10 mins, but now it only takes 7 - 8 mins. thanks

Raingear
frog toggs i use them for work and for fishing. i put them through alot of abuse, and they are on my 2nd season. i picked up a set for $50, which includes top and bottom. im often outside in the rain for 8+ hours, in the cold and in the heat. if you wear the proper clothing under the gear you will stay dry, but you will also stay warm in the cold, and stay cool in the heat. frog toggs allow me to stay dry in the winter and summer months. they are easy to pack, and you can carry a set all the time.

JON BOAT: Electric Only Top Speeds ?
FORUMULA FOR OPTIMUM BOAT SPEED WITHOUT GOING ON PLANE: HSPD = SQ ROOT [ LVL ] * 1.34 HSPD = is maximum hull speed in knots LVL = is the hull length in feet at waterline ESTIMATED TOP SPEEDS: - 12 FT BOAT: 4.44 KNOTS = 5.11 MPH - 14 FT BOAT: 4.83 KNOTS = 5.56 MPH - 16 FT BOAT: 5.19 KNOTS = 5.97 MPH - 18 FT BOAT: 5.52 KNOTS = 6.36 MPH Here are my results BOAT: - 1436 Alumacraft | 135 lbs - http://www.alumacraft.com/jon_pdf/14.pdf MOTORS: - 2x 30# Trust Minn Kota Motors - Transom Mounted PEOPLE & GEAR: - 2 People & Gear - 3 Batteries - 2 Trolling Motors - Approximate Carrying Weight = 500 lbs TOP SPEED: - 2.6 mph = Running 1 30# Trust Minn Kota - 3.3 mph = Running 2 30# Trust Minn Kota These test results were taken in ideal fishing conditions. There were low wave, current and wind conditions. Based on my results, I believe I can get away using 2 - 3 55# Trust Minn Kota motors and reach optimum speed. Hope this helps for future electric only boats

Troiling Motor Problems
i recently picked up a used 30# minn kota, but it was for salt water. the problems sounds like the exact same problems we were having. at first we throught it was the prop that was coming loose, so we changed that, along with new hardware. you can pick it up for $15 at a local sportstore. unfortunately it was not that. since i picked up the trolling motor for $20, i decided it was such a small price that i could take it apart and see what the problem was. like you, if i gave the thing a shake, it would turn on. in the beginning, it would turn on for a long period of time. as time went by, the power disconnection happened more frequently, and for longer periods of time. i gave up and took it apart. i noticed inside the prop area there is this thing that spins [sorry i dont really recall what it looks like]. i think it was round and has 2 wires coming out from it. well 1 wire was basically worn out, so i assume that was the thing that was causing the loose connection. looks like a simple fix. if the repairs are 50% of the cost of a new motor, i would suggest getting a new one. like me, you dont want to be stuck out on the lake without a trolling motor. good luck

what kinda boat do you have? thanks- Jon Boat Deck
google the following jon boat mods custom jon boats jon boat clubs if you are up for it, you can also use aluminum- removing jon boat seats
here is a quote i found from another site. just in case anyone wants a greater explaination removing the seat can be accomplished, but its not an easy task. a way is not to take out the complete seat, but use the sides and bottom as ribs. this is to keep the structural integrity intact. if you can, order 2 ribs, or construct 2 ribs in place of the seat. you can also pickup some marine foam to replace the foam you take out. be sure to pickup approved marine foam. good luck i have a 1436 alumacraft, and i will be removing my middle seat soon.- Marine Spray Foam - Aided Safety Floatation ?
i think i found what i need... check out the quote- Marine Spray Foam - Aided Safety Floatation ?
