  1. Thanks everyone for your helpful responses. I was using an Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5601 on a Bionic Blade 7 foot mh, slow tip w/ 17 lb trilene xl. This setup was not intended for throwing cranks and after reading everyone's replies I'm sure that contributed to my lack of success. I guess this setup is fine for throwing heavy crankbaits but not for lighter stuff. What line do you recommend for crankbaits? Next time out I'll try to tweak the brake setting on the reel. I will also look into a crank bait specific rod. In the meantime, I think I'll just throw the lighter lures with my spinning setup.
  2. Yes, but maybe I should try tweaking it some more...
  3. Do you guys work for the bait monkey!!?? Guess I need to buy a crankin' stick.
  4. I am having a difficult time casting crankbaits far enough. I'm fishing from shore and need to get some good distance. Are there heavier cranks that are better for casting long distances? Or do I need to improve my casting skills? I can launch spinnerbaits very far with my baitcaster, but my crankbaits are so much lighter. The Rattle Traps I have are a bit heavier but all of the lipped cranks are very light. Do I need heavier cranks, different casting gear, better casting skills, all of the above??? Thanks in advance.
  5. Great fish Dan! Do you think fishing a swim senko wacky has different action than a regular senko wacky?
  6. I've found a few nice spots with google maps. The only problem is you can't see "private property" signs. Sometimes you can't actually access that great body of water you find :'(
  7. How do you keep plastics in a box? Doesn't the attractant/oils leak out? Or do they make special ones?
  8. I've never seen eyes like that before. What rig are you using?
  9. Check out Record Hunters on Espn or espn2 for some good video. You'll see what kind of gear they use and how important it is to have a guide in that part of the world. I guess you can catch 'em on fly gear too!
  10. As a general rule of thumb, is spinning gear better for plastics and finesse fishing, while a baitcaster would be better for pulling crankbaits, spinnerbaits, tubes in heavy cover, etc? By the way this is my first post - thanks for all of you sharing your knowledge. Hopefully I'll be able to return the favor.
