  1. One more thing to point out is that crankbaits are much more weedless then they look. I was originally scared to throw them into lay downs, timber, etc. because I figured the treble hooks would get caught up. But usually they do not because the nose of the bait points down and the bill deflects off of cover before the hooks can hit it. Bouncing crankbaits off of wood and other cover often triggers bass into striking.
  2. The rapala DT series (dt=dives to) have the running depth in feet printed on the bill of the bait. For a beginner, this is very helpful because you can have a bunch of cranks with different diving depths and be able to select a bait based on diving depth very easily. Also, all cranks dive deeper with thinner line so that is an additional factor that will affect the depth that your crankbait runs at. And most importantly Staff Sergeant--USMC, thanks for serving our Country!!!
  3. You can try a bluegill lure instead of a real one.
  4. That's like a huge senko!
  5. what line and rod are you using?
  6. Has anyone gotten this to play on a mac? I have the windows media player but I get an error.
  7. I can't find the video, does anyone have a direct link?
  8. Which Storm swimbait?
  9. I find that snaps usually do not effect the action on my cranks. But, imo they do hamper the action on jerkbaits. I think the slight extra weight of the snap can pull the nose of the bait down.
  10. That's not funny! I can see right through you guys.
  11. I never purchase clear or translucent hard baits. Under what season or circumstances do they excel?
  12. If you need to put a positive spin on a skunking or disappointing outing, think of it as paying dues. All of the time you put in, even if your skunked, will teach you a lot about the water, your tackle, and what doesn't work. In the long run, this will contribute to you being a better angler. Oh, and don't forget the best tournament anglers in the world get skunked some days.
  13. You should definitely try soft plastics. Read RoadWarrior's post for guaranteed fish catching.
  14. Chris - I know your into photography: the video compression is just like jpg compression on an image. JPG's compress image data and make the image file smaller. In order to make a video load faster and play smoother the file size has to be reduced through video (and audio) compression. Believe it or not, that quality is actually not too bad for web-based video.
  15. Chris - Do you have the original url of the photo? If not, do you remember what you searched for on google to find it?
  16. Here are a few reputable place to order Japanese tackle online: - Plat - Japan Tackle - Japan Fishing Line and there are a bunch on ebay too.
  17. I just got some dynagones : and some Jackall Bros. Pine Shrimp: but I haven't gotten to try either of them out yet.
  18. There are some great videos at that link. You should start a new thread with that url if it hasn't been done already.
  19. Great job Glenn! Me too. I like the pros who know their stuff, but don't take themselves too seriously and have fun with it. Did you see him on The World's Greatest Fishing Show? Pretty funny.
  20. Glenn - You should start a (free) bassresource youtube page to host all of the site videos. PM me if you want help.
  21. What color crankbait do you throw when you don't know what the most common forage is for a body of water? I realize the importance of matching the hatch, but sometimes you don't know what the bass are feeding on. I tend to throw something with bright colors in water with little visibility and more natural colors in clear water. But that philosophy is based on my color selection for spinnerbaits. Does that apply to crankbaits as well?
  22. Don't buy any baits called "Unlucky Crafts." ;D
  23. If you let nature take it's course you run the risk of the algae suffocating the water. My favorite pond had a huge fish kill last summer because the algae got so thick that the oxygen levels in the water were depleted. Hundreds of beautiful fish died. I would recommend speaking with the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department like R.W. recommended.
  24. I bought one and the skirt fell off. The wire was flimsy and bent and I had a hard time getting it to run true after that. I would never buy one again. That said, my buddy caught a real hawg on the exact same one!
