Hey, I'm a nooby fisherman from Chicago/Midwest. I fish mainly ponds and the DuPage River and want some advice on what lures to buy to be versatile and get the most practice... I'm planning on ordering stuff from bass pro shops or going to Dick's in person since I have a lot of discounts there. My budget is $50 or less preferably but money isn't that big of an issue... Here are the lures I plan on getting and I plan on fishing dirty water if you guys could just help me by telling me what would be a good color to get, weight, and how to fish it simply that would be great.

for this I assume a dark color like black/blue brown/black and weight 1/4 oz. I mainly fish in shallow water and would like to be versatile though if I go to lakes.

assuming firetiger would be good and 1/4 oz. for size... to fish it do you just reel like a regular squarebill and you can change up your retrieve

lastly, i'm going to also buy some BPS XPS lures so I can practice with throwing out cheaper lures as well. I've had most of my success with squarebill/wacky senko and am going to continue to use them but more advice would be a great help thank you.
