  1. Thanks. I'll see what other ponds are also close to me. Heritage is just close to my house. In case it doesn't go well or he decides he'd rather fall in than fish (much more likely) I'd be close to home to neutralize that situation.
  2. Another "lurker" here. Quick question: does anyone know where you can buy the permit to fish Johnson County lakes/ponds like Heritage? I want to take my son there (2.5 years old) and TRY to get him started fishing by catching some bluegills or sunfish off the dock right there. He's a little young, but I'm hoping if I work with him that by next spring he'll be catching a few on his own. Thanks in advance.
  3. Thanks @conorsixtakc. I have a buddy who works for Garmin who can get me his employee discount so I'm glad their stuff is good! I should be able to get more for my money that way. I'm definitely going to check that model out you suggested. The fact that you say they're easy to use is a plus; this will be my first fish finder so I have a lot of learning to do... thanks again.
  4. So I know there are areas on the forum specifically for talking fish finders but just curious what the guys fishing in my area use/think. I predominantly fish upper Osage end of LOZ, lots of shallow flats and boat docks so I'm guessing side imaging will be crucial. Is there a certain brand/model that anybody could recommend? Anybody try Garmin fish finder with side view? Trying to stick around $500. (Boat is only worth about $3k so trying to keep every thing in perspective). Any and all advice is appreciated and sorry if I'm messing up the flow of the discussion with this.
  5. Are the strips public or private? Heard of them, never fished them.

  9. Hi guys, Brand new to the forum. Lovin it so far. Going out this weekend to Pomme De Terre for a family get together/fishing trip (for me). Was curious if anyone had suggestions on what they're biting on and/or how deep they're sitting right now. Any and all help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!
