  1. I just got a brand new baitcaster which was the *** ***. Side note I absolutely love the reel, it rarely backlashes and can absolutely launch baits. Anyways it is my first baitcaster and I'm unsure if the noise I am getting when I reel is normal or not. The noise isn't loud and I know it isn't the braking system because if I take off the side plate and pull out the spool it still makes the noise. It doesn't feel like it's grinding it just makes a noise sort of like when you reel in braid. And it's still pretty smooth when I reel. Sorry that's my best explanation. Any ideas? Thanks
  2. Is there a possible rod action and power that I could use for crankbaits, spinner baits and chatterbaits? I know I'm pushing it but I'm also on a budget.
  3. I also have trouble fishing natural colored trick worms. I can't remember the last time where a natural color has dominated in any of the ponds I fish.
  4. I'm just curious to see what everyones go to bait is when you fish a new pond for the first time?
  5. @Jar11591 Okay I sort of realized that whenever my line is slack I'm actually watching the line to see if it moves anyways. So basically my previous question is sort of obsolete. I do a ton of Texas Rigs where I drag a lizard or something on the bottom. And my guess is that braid has the best sensitivity when the lines are tighter like that?
  6. @Jar11591the one thing I'm a little apprehensive about is the slack line sensitivity with braid. Will I be able to feel bites when I'm using soft plastics?
  7. Would you suggest a flouro leader or just straight braid? And thanks for the reply!
  8. Hello all, I am new to this forum and have been doing a bunch of research on lines but never really got anything to satisfy me. Okay so im sort of on a budget and only use two rods and two reels. 1st setup- BPS carbonlite 7'0 MH fast action rod paired with a pflueger supreme spinning reel. 2nd setup- *** *** black gen 2 paired with *** *** baitcasting reel. I fish from the shore and about 50% of my fishing consists of soft plastics whether it be Texas rigs, wacky rigs or flukes. I fish them all. The other 50% is chatterbaits, crankbaits (lipless and lipped). I also fish a ton of top water like a jitterbug or a frog. My question is to see what type of line everyone thinks I should put on my spinning and baitcasting setup. Or should I do two different lines on each setup and designate them to different applications. (keeping in mind I only have two setups). Basically I just want an all around good line that can get me best of both worlds. I'm definitely open to any suggestions you guys have. Thanks to all who help!
