  1. Whoa those are cool. I still have a pretty new 40lb minnkota and batteries, maybe I can rig something up!
  2. that's awesome. custom made?
  3. Pretty soon they'll have foot controlled trolling motors, livewells and power poles
  4. Apparently FeelFree is supposed to be coming out with an awesome one pretty soon though
  5. I think those pedal drives are getting a little out of my budget, especially once you add in all the accessories
  6. That seat in the Lure looks absolutely amazing. Not to mention that center console setup for fishfinders. I have a hook4 I'm going to rig up.
  7. Checked out the 10 footer at the local shop today. Seemed pretty comfy to me, but he didn't have the 12. They did however have the Perception Pescador pro 120, which was also pretty nice for the price...
  8. I recently sold my little 1232 jon boat for space reasons when I moved cross country. Now that we're settled in, it's time to get back on the water because bank fishing is about as frustrating as it gets. I'm considering buying a kayak instead of another jon. My main concern is that I like to carry a decent amount of gear, and I would like to be able to stand up while fishing. I'm not trying to break the bank, but I know that you get what you pay for. I've been checking out the Feel Free Moken online, but I'm not sure which size to go for. I'm decently sized guy at 6'1" 200 lbs. The 10 foot seems like it would be easier to maneuver and access my gear, but I'm worried it would be cramped for a guy my size. It's also wider and has higher payload, which both seem like they would be more conducive to standing? Not too sure about that one though. Any advice, or input on these boats would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  9. Found a Whopper Plopper in the local pond on Monday! Ended up using my crank bait to reel it in from about 20 yards away from the bank. It had about 30 feet of what looked like 40lb spiderwire on it still and had no rust whatsoever ??
  10. size wasn't necessarily the issue. I've seen 2 pound smallies caught on a 130... Some days all it takes is a very slight tweak to catch fish that have been following/short striking. In this case they just wanted something different.
  11. Picked up an Orra winch in the flea market! ???
  12. There aren't enough bass enthusiasts in my area for sharin' info to be a problem, it seems. Being new in town, I've spent the last weeks fishing every pond in town, putting in several hours every day. A few key pointers, vague ones but pointers nonetheless, have really helped me find a few crucial spots. I've met a few serious anglers, but no real bassheads so far. As someone who enjoys camaraderie, I never hesitate to chat it up with anyone who seems like they know what they're talking about.
  13. Been paying very close attention to this all week since Matt and Tim dropped that video. Haven't definitively caught a fish because of it though, but it's been extremely tough fishing this week and not much catching. However, I started keeping my index finger on my line on spinning rods earlier this season, and I definitely noticed bites I would have missed. The whole rod deflection thing seems extremely situational to me. As in only in situations where there is absolutely nothing that could obstruct your weight/lure. And that rarely ever happens for me.
  14. I had a very similar experience during the post spawn this year. On a lake I fish often with 15ft of visibility the post spawners holed up shallow in the tules, and in a murky lake they all went deep and stayed deep for the summer
  15. I just moved cross country, and have been waiting for my start date at my job, which is the 25th. I've fished every day since arriving here on the 5th. That makes 20 days straight for me right now.
  16. Those are about the same parameters that I prefer too.
  17. In Washington, I fished a few lakes where I could see the bottom in 15ft. And the murky lakes maybe 3ft of visibility. North Carolina lakes seem very similar, but I've noticed people referring to the clarity of lakes that have the least visibility as clear. Anyways, at what point do you generally switch from green to black and blue? Because I've been using b&b in water with several feet of visibility, water that a lot of people around here are calling "clear"
  18. I snapped the tip off of a rod on a hook set and they told me to ship it in. Only cost me 11$. They ended up replacing it with a different rod that was 30$ cheaper than the one I sent them. Took over a month to receive the replacement, so I didn't even feel the need to waste my time complaining to them about it. I won't buy another fenwick.
  19. After moving from the northwest to the southeast, I'm coming to realize that people can have vastly different ideas of what they consider clear or dirty water. So what would you consider clear? 5 ft of visibility, maybe even less? And better yet, what would you consider your ideal water clarity?
  20. Recently had to sell my little Jon boat because I was moving cross the country, so I'm shore bound for a little while. I carry 2 rods, and a backpack with a 3600 tray of various lures and terminal tackle, and several bags of plastics. Of course I keep tons more tackle in the truck and very often find myself jogging back to the parking lot to grab something that I didn't think to bring in the first place. All of my deep cranks, heavy stuff and most expensive tackle is now just gathering dust. Couldn't bear the thought of snagging a vision 110 in the middle of a pond.
  21. I've never been a huge fan of any of their house brand tackle, other than the stick-o's. But I'll be driving through Bristol Tennessee this weekend (the clostest BPS) so I'll pick one up and try it while I'm there!
  22. Doesn't come in a lefty I'm thinking about biting the bullet and getting a right handed one though....
  23. I'm looking to pick up a dedicated medium/deep cranking setup, mostly for DT10-16s. I've thrown the 10s on my shallow crank/jerkbait rod that has a 6:1 and it felt too underpowered. I've found it incredibly difficult to find reels in low gear ratios, especially ones that are budget friendly. TW has the Orra Winch on sale right now, but I've got no experience with Abu reels. I've heard their quality has gone downhill recently, but I use Daiwa reels almost exclusively so I wouldn't really know. Anyways, if anyone has experience with that reel, or another budget cranking trees, any insight would be awesome!
  24. +1 for the Falcons. I have a MH MF falcon bucoo casting rod that flings 1/4 oz cranks plenty far, their spinning rods should do that even better.
  25. The worm hook I choose is equally dependent on the line and rod I'm using as it is the worm. If you're using a softer rod and mono, a 2/0 trokar ewg would be perfect for a trick worm. Braid to flouro I might think about a Trokar straight shank light wire finesse hook or a 3/0 ewg.
