  1. It is a weird setup, it slides into the ring and can be easily be pulled off. I will look around I believe mine is 1/2 ounce, I think a size 4 would work great. Thanks for the link I’m sure a lot of those tricks are never shared either
  2. I lost the double hook that hides in the skirt of a hula popper and I have been hooking less fish because of it. Can I use something like this in its place? It looks the same I feel like it would work... https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Gamakatsu_EWG_Dbl_Frog_Hooks_Black_3pk/descpage-GDHEWGB.html
  3. Man, I haven't posted in a while! I was browsing TW and noticed a new reel, the Regal LT, curious how it compared to the RG AB I looked for that as well. It didnt show up! Is it being discontinued?
  4. Yeah I’ve figured out it’s not the bearing, i believe it’s the pinion gear. I’m not sure how to grease it though as id rather not take everything apart. When I cast its very very quiet. As for my line tension it has to be that tight or else it will fall too quickly. Do I have to take everything apart to do that. The reel has had very minimal use until now and is pretty smooth. I wonder if I could take a toothpick and put some on the pinion that way or wouldn’t it work...
  5. Update I might have found where the noise is coming from... i think it’s from this little gold gear because when I leave the side plate off and push the spool in by hand and hold it there and crank reel (I was trying to see if the side plate bearing was the problem) there is the same noise but much louder and more pronounced
  6. Pro max, it’s a cheap reel so it’s not super worrisome. The shaft is most definitely smaller Cranking, the knob is being tightened a lot because I was fishing a pretty heavy lure, a 1/4 oz swimjig plus a 3.8 inch keitech trailer... the spool shaft looks ok but I can wipe it down to make sure it’s clean. The bearings are fine I think. they still have the factory grease. I haven’t used this reel a lot as I have just gotten half decent with my baitcaster... and I’m not 100% sure where the noise is from but it seemed like it was from the tension knob somewhere
  7. It won’t let me upload a video but the grinding only happens when the tension knob is mostly cranked down. I included a sound recording of the noise. When I loosen or remove the knob the noise is pretty much gone. Reel Noise.m4a It won’t let me upload a video but the grinding only happens when the tension knob is mostly cranked down. I included a sound recording of the noise. When I loosen or remove the knob the noise is pretty much gone. Also keep in mind I put my phones microphone right next to the reel. It’s not really that loud when held in a normal fishing position...
  8. I noticed the tension knob bearing on my baitcaster doesn’t spin or even move when the little shaft inside it moves... is this supposed to happen? What exactly does this bearing do. I am trying to trouble shoot a whining noise coming from my reel and when I take the tension cap all the way off the noise stops. This video shows what I mean
  9. Before I bought my veritas, I read a lot of negative reviews as well. However I still ended up buying 2 of them. (Although mine were 2.0s I’m not sure about the new ones,I’ve handled them in stores they don’t seem too much different and are supposed to be much stronger than the previous model)I’ve never had a problem. I’ve used mine (7’ MF) for all the applications you listed here... My theory is it’s many beginning anglers first “good” rod and therefore they have no idea how to take care of it. They think it can just be thrown in the back of the truck like an ugly stick or something. The graphite will weaken under prolonged abuse causing premature rod failure. Same goes for any graphite rod. If you treat the rod right it will treat you right. Also people tend to only write reviews if they have an issue, there are many satisfied Abu Veritas owners (such as myself) that have never felt the need to write a review... Good Luck and update us to whichever rod you decide to buy.
  10. Nice work! I couldn’t imagine having any action lighter than what I got but maybe in the future I will get a light one...
  11. I went out tonight and my grips got a little wet while fishing and also smell strongly of fish. Do I need to clean them in any particular way when this happens or should I just let dry? I’ve never thought about it before but this is a brand new rod and I’m probably just being paranoid. (Side note: the fish smell does not bother me but I want to make sure I’m not degrading the foam or growing mold/bacteria or something.)
  12. Took it out tonight for the first time and I’m loving it! I paired it with a Daiwa Legalis LT 1000 with 10lb powerpro and I caught some panfish with it. I am definitely glad I got the medium light over the light though, I have just enough backbone and it’s very sensitive. All the small fish feel giant now. It casts well and loads up well. I will (hopefully) be trying it out on some bass this weekend...
