Honesty time: I get a backlash 1 out of every ??? casts.
If i'm using my Diawa reels and i remember to turn my brakes up, I'm usually good to go. Then somedays different factors like wind, brush, my girlfriends hair get in the way then I birds nest bad. Best thing I ever did was buy a $2 metal pick from a hardware store to pick the knots out.

St. Croix Legend Glass?
These new St. Croix Legend Glass rods look very interesting, I'm in the market for my first moderate action crankbait specific rod and these have my attention. The only issue for me personally is the size. I like a rod around 7' and medium heavy, they offer a 7'2'' in Medium and a 7' 4'' in Medium heavy that they call their most versatile rod in that class. What do you guys think, 7'4'' too long? I know its only 4'' longer than what I'm use to but I hear a lot of people say anything over 7' feels like a telephone pole. Anyway, thanks any input.

Need help with picking new casting rod & reel
Awesome advice, I think I will be going with something in the medium heavy category. I do like the idea of the heavy rod but that will be the next rod with extra money I have saved up. Thank again!

Need help with picking new casting rod & reel
Thank for the great info, what is the reason for the heavy rod over the medium? Also I did some reel research and I have also heard amazing things about the type-r, glad to hear you mention it.

Need help with picking new casting rod & reel
Hi guys, I'm new here and was wondering if someone could help me with a flipping and pitching rod and reel set up. I'm reading some people recommend rods in length of 7' 6'' Do I really need a rod that big? There are just so many options when it comes to rods for flip and pitch, just looking for some help. I love St Croix rods and was thinking the Avid X series? Also as far as baitcasters go, I have my eye on an Abu Garcia Revo SX in 7.1.1 ratio? Any help would be awesome, thanks!
