  1. Anyone have any input since this post's start? They are having another BOGO right now. Bumping the thread for updates.
  2. The opposite of what your brother is throwing
  3. I have a 6'8" Medium Fast St. Croix Rage that I use for topwater. I love it for my walking baits because I can walk it without it hitting the water. I don't think they make the Rage anymore, but you can still get it online. I have a Premier for my Crankbait rod and that's a great rod too.
  4. Congratulations on the most unintelligent response in the topic. Based on the other responses I'm getting, not such a dumb question. But thanks for the help!
  5. Im asking generally. I don't tournament fish but I've been watching the flw tours on YouTube and am noticing guys going back to the same spots over and over and was just wondering why the bass stay there
  6. Preparing for tournaments, you often see or hear of guys searching out schools and marking them to return 2 or even 3 days later on the tournament days. My question is, how do you know those fish will still be in that spot? Why don't they move? How often do they move? Would they stay a whole season, or just a day?
  7. I'm in New Egypt. Same as my brother. JoeD320.
  8. I don't know. Lake Fork Guy said he was using 20lb Fluro with the Curado 70 and he cast out and his lure and all the line followed lol
  9. I am looking at the Tatula Tactical which is on sale. Was looking at the Curado 70 but am concerned about the line capacity.
  10. I'm looking for a reel now to pair with the Tatula rod I ordered for worms and jigs, and have decided to go with shimano or Daiwa $200 would be the most I could spend and that's pushing it. I don't really know exactly what to look for. They all kind of boast the same thing.
  11. What is the general line capacity ya'll think is the standard necessary for fishing deep jigs long casts like 30 ft deep?
  12. Gotcha. So what you're saying in not so many words is that in using bass fishing as an example if you were using say 15lb test line, a 10 lb drag system is moot because the line would break long before the drag system is ever stressed. Am I right?
  13. Hmmm... I'll have to consider all that as I shop for my new Jig Reel. Guess you can't always listen to the guys getting paid BY the reel company to tell you what you need lol
  14. I don't disagree, I just was under the impression that when fishing in heavy cover or deep the extra drag is need for getting the fish out of the junk or from deep water.
  15. Curado 70 only has 10 lb drag and boast it's good at casting the lightest weights. Any input on that? I don't think 10 lb drag is quite enough.
  16. A few years old but right here on these forums http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/91777-browning-silaflex-rods/
  17. I have reached out to customer service and they offered to replace the reel. That's when I just exchanged it because it was still early after the purchase and the second reel had the same problems. So it gets used until I replace it with another reel. Customer service was helpful though.
  18. Exactly! I was just about to take a picture as some people apparently can't believe that there can be anything wrong with a Lew's Reel. Anyway, the "I hate Lew's" statement came from my brother about my distaste for this reel and it put a sour taste in my mouth with Lew's. But man some people got triggered lol See above. Same thing happened to me. And I'm not hear to prove anything, I'm hear for advice. Thanks anyway.
  19. That's a direct quote from my brother. To expand on it, it was "Yes, I know you hate lew's. I know you'll never buy another lew's reel again. I hear about it every time we go fishing. But you're the only person in the world who hates Lew's. Everyone loves them." Now, I know this is and exaggeration but I'm just looking for an idea and I'm not trying to bash Lew's or anything like that. Some backstory, my first Lew's reel was a Lew's Laser Speed Spool I got on sale from Cabela's marked down to $80 from $130. So regular price not a cheapo reel but not expensive by any means. Well a week after it started peeling whatever coating it had on it. I exchanged it for new at cabelas after being told by a fellow fisherman that it may not have been left in the ovens long enough (?). Lo and behold the next one started the same thing. Then the functionality problems came. Intermittent loud grinding while reeling. Reel handle just locking up for no reason. I clean it, oil it. I don't treat it bad, so why oh why does it treat me bad. I'll never know anyway, what are your thoughts and who is your go to reel company. Honestly, I have a Pass pro Johnny Morris reel I'm in love with but they only make them in right hand retrieve and I can't do that in all the applications.
  20. Editing my original post as I was linking you here when I posted on your other topic. I am leaning towards the Daiwa Tatula as that seems to have the most bang for the buck and great reviews online.
  21. Wow, thanks for the great replies, that Tatula seems to have high praise all over the place and I've heard Irod come up a couple times too. You guys prefer F or XF actions? I keep boucning back and forth, I do think Heavy power is overkill for my lakes, I'm in New Jersey so there's never really and really bad spots.
  22. I do, people who leave trash ARE trash.
  23. Well I'm buying by first Jig/Worm rod and I've narrowed it down based on quality for the price. I can't get my hands on them before I buy them so I'm looking for advice from those who have used these rods before. So my thoughts now (unless a bunch of people just tell me to go another route) are Okuma TCS 7ft heavy MF Action (not sure how I feel about MF for a jig/worm) Dobyns Fury 7ft heavy Also looked at the Castaway Taranis but there specs seem strange Any thoughts on these? My other 2 rods are St. Croix, but I'm not looking to break the bank and I want to branch out to other makers.
  24. Been wondering the same, they are all over facebook with that buy one get one deal.
