  1. Thank you... Any other comments or suggestions?
  2. Okay.. I'll recommend the Striper rod.. but.. It says lures up to 1oz. I know he sometimes throws heavier lures than that. Is the Tiger rod that says 3/4 to 6oz too much rod?
  3. A friend of mine is consumed/infatuated with striper fishing and needs a good set up. He will be using it primarily in Connecticut rivers. Based on my limited experience and research... I recommended to him a Daiwa Lexa 3500 or 4000 spinning reel. It was on sale for $79 but just went up to $89.... and an Ugly Stik Tiger for $69. Do you think this is a good combination for stripers? Can you recommend anything else in the same price range that would be better? Thanks in advance!
  4. Appreciate the offer but I'll get it fixed.. besides this slight issue.. this reel is sweet!
  5. Yeah.. I'm going to try and fix it first.. nothin to lose
  6. ................. Like I said above.. I manually flip bail.. not using the handle. I do not believe it's anything I'm doing. I have 6 other spinning reels that I do not have any issues with!!!
  7. Hi Bob.. no it's not from bass pro... thank you tho. I really love this real besides this issue... more so than the 1000fe models, So.. hopefully I can get it squared away!
  8. I believe so... we blew up the high resolution picture and discovered it has a little divot as well. I'm going to attempt to file/sand it down or maybe epoxy/jb weld. If that doesn't work.. order a new bail assembly. Thanks
  9. I have a Sedona 500fd that I fish the same way and it doesn't get hung up. Also have two Sedona 1000fe and no problem. I always manually close the bail.. I don't see a discernible difference from my other reels... Thanks. It's not exchangeable
  10. after casting... 8 out of 10 times my line gets hung up.. as shown in the picture. It will stay there during retrieve. Any suggestions on how to rectify this problem?
  11. okay.... is that too much line?
  12. maybe pics will help? Back meaning toward the handle. Over-spooled? another..........
  13. Maybe you are right.. I think I may have over-spooled it a little. I'll play around with the washers.. Thanks
  14. By shims do you mean the washer type? This one didn't but I have another Sedona that did have them in the box that I would think I could use.
  15. Not sure if this is a problem or not. I purchased a new spinning rod and reel today. The reel is a Sedona 1000. I spooled it with 6lb flourocarbon and it spooled a little unevenly... with more toward the back of the reel. I cast it a few times to see if it would even out but didn't. Also.. I've never used flouro before and it seemed to want to keep flying off the reel well after the lure landed. I can see this is going to take a little getting used to.. and read something about using line conditioner... will this help? Thanks!
  16. Nice... where were they caught?
  17. I am a 50 year old rookie when it comes to bass fishing. Most of my fishing experiences have come on the bay.. when I had my boat..
  18. That's a good idea.. I had the Okuma on the Bionic blade.. but when I went up to Connecticut.. I had a difficult time casting with this combo. I believe it was the stiffness of the rod that gave me a hard time.. as I am so used to my other rods having more flex to them. I definitely need to practice with this combo and I believe I'm going to dedicate it to Carolina rig. After watching a few videos... I'm going to try using the BPS/Pflueger with 15# as a pitching and flipping stick. St Croix/Sahara with 8# for ned and drop shot. The Scout/Maxx with 8# for texas rig. The Quantum/Sahara with 10# for ned and shaky head. And lastly.. the Shakespeare/Tatula with 10# for spinners and cranks.
  19. I appreciate the feedback.. really do. It's not about.. enthusiasm, overthinking or not having fun. I enjoy just being on the water and get more satisfaction watching others catch fish. It's definitely not about competing with others.. my questions are about the best utilization of the equipment I currently have.. to become more proficient. As far as... 15 years ago and before the internet was here... that was then.. this is now. I believe these sites are here to discuss and help others.. no? I would think that the repetitive posts.. which rod is better... or this reel vs that reel would make one's head spin.... just sayin. I'll figure it out... Thanks!
  20. thanks for the help... I picked up the Lowrance Hook4 yesterday :-)
  21. The ever so popular Tatula 100H has the 6.3:1 ratio you speak of... think I'll go this route
  22. Okay... let me see if I got this straight.. St. Croix spin reel - smaller ned, drop shot, tubes, unweighted plastics and senkos Quantum spin reel - worms with weight, skinny dipper with belly weight or jig head Shakespeare baitcast - jerk bait and crank BPS spinner - heavier ned rig Bionic baitcast- Carolina rig Scout baitcast - Spinners
