  1. I'm telling ya'll this is the most excited I've been about the SEC champ game in quite a few yrs. I have really felt like GA has had a legit shot a beating Bama for a few weeks. They are legit. Bama is good. I'm not so sure LSU really exposed Bama as much as LSU is playing much better ball these last few weeks. LSU has certainly improved greatly since losing to my Dawgs and to Troy. Almost totally diff team. This GA vs Bama game gonna fun to watch. Just so we're not all SEC talk, can anybody else believe how bad Iowa whooped up on OSU? I didn't catch the game but saw the score, and was very surprised. And with Penn St losing again, does the Big 10 have a legit playoff contender? Is Wisconsin the real deal? Miami still undefeated too. Can they move ahead of Clemson in the playoff picture? This is always fun to watch this late in the season when it gets down to the nitty gritty. The games become so much more important. And somebody always seems to stumble right at the end.
  2. Yeah, you guys are definitely experiencing one of the worst seasons I can remember. I felt like McElwain was a strange hire from the get go. But rest assured, you guys have the budget & program prestige to get the ship righted. Plus, you got a great AD now that you stole from my team. ?
  3. Agree with everybody. The boat looks awesome. Nobody would ever guess this was you're 1st time doing it & that you didn't know what you were doing. ? Congrats!
  4. You called it! GA is #1 and Alabummer is #2. Been saying for weeks that GA looks scary good.
  5. Yeah, they looked good at A&M. Unless you're talking about GA, then they looked good against FL. Yep. Looks like it'll be Bama #1 and Georgia #2 now. Gonna be a very interesting SEC championship this yr.
  6. I didn't get it at first, but then I scrolled up & saw the original post. ?????
  7. Try being a Miss State football fan. We've never won a NC, in any sport for that matter. The most we can brag about is that #1 ranking for a few weeks we had 3 or 4 yrs ago. Still, I love my Bulldawgs. Hail State!
  8. I agree. I have of few I series Curados and a Citica. I like the handles on the I series better, but overall I actually prefer the E series reels. Very simple set up and low maintenance. Wish I could find a few E series Curados still new.
  9. Yep. You got it. ? I shoulda mentioned the part about selecting the name from the drop down menu once you start typing. Lol. My bad.
  10. @Smokinal I don't think it sends the person a notification if you just put the user name without the @ symbol. This way, you know the person will see it or at least get a notification next time they log on.
  11. You mean like this @The Bassman ? You just put this symbol @ in front of the person's user name.
  12. These look nice, but not cheap. Capt Ken makes some nice looking lures, just a little pricey. He catches some big fish on em tho. http://www.noflyrodneeded.com/dragonflies.html
  13. Good stuff! Sounds like your friend Roger was a good fisherman. But more importantly, he was a great human being and friend. Thanks for sharing.
  14. I really like stories that are written that focus mostly on family & friends, but also involve fishing. I've always felt fishing is much better when it's done with people you care about. Very nicely written piece. https://www.bassresource.com/fishing/fishing-daddy.html
  15. Another top 5 team goes down. Washington lost to Arizona St. Gonna be interesting to see how the playoff picture clears up (or muddies up ?) over the next few weeks. Georgia still looks great. I still think they have the best shot at beating Bama.
  16. Very well said & I agree whole heartedly. In my experience (40+ yrs of bass fishing), some days the moon phases seem to have more influence than others. I've always found weather conditions & wind, time of year (season) seem to be more influential on the bite. But, if it all aligns with being overcast, prefrontal conditions with some nice wind/breezes AND the solunar tables predict good fishing, it can be lights out. Especially in spring, summer or fall. Or even early winter if it's been warm. I've also had some terrible days when the tables predicted the best day for that entire month. Guess what? Post frontal, blue bird skies with slick calm water. ? It's all good. Bottom line, if you can go fishing, then go fish. It's still fun & a lotta times you still learn something. ?
  17. Yeah, the hooks on them are my only complaint. But they def catch fish. I've been using some ZMan Elaztech worms on them recently. The Elaztech seems to stay on the bait keeper better & not wear out nearly as fast as a Zoom trick worm. Guess I usually think of snake type lures as surface baits. Like I said, I always use em subsurface. Sometimes, they work well lifting em off bottom & letting em sink back down, almost like working a jig.
  18. Yeah, keep at it. Once you find the rthymn/cadence they want on the retrieve, you can slay em. Most times a burn & pause retrieve works best for me. Other times, they want it pumped up and down from like a 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock position with sporadic pauses. Others times, rip it off bottom & let it sink while reeling in slack - this can be killer in cooler water. And finally, sometimes a straight burning it back works. Try fishing it around sparse, submerged grass and ticking the top of the grass. When it gets hung, rip it free with a hard jerk of the rod. Sometimes they'll slam it when it rips free. To me, the best set up for lipless cranks is a 7' MH with a mod fast tip. I use a 7.1 ratio reel. I'm partial to Strike King Redeye Shads - they seem to have more vibration & shimmy down when paused. I've had some 30-40 fish days with a 1/4 oz RES around shallow grass. And I usually catch a few that'll go 3-5 lbs. Every now & then you'll hook a real pig too. ?
  19. I'm not sure the Wobbleheads make the trick worm look like a snake. I guess if you retrieved it fast enough on the surface they would. The blade def makes the worm have a very "S" shaped swimming action. I dunno. I've always done well with them slow rolling a foot or so under the surface. They work great over submerged/sparse grass. I always thought of them kind of like a shallow squarebill or small chatterbait, just a diff look/profile.
  20. I once caught a bluegill on a large Smithwick Rattling Rogue. Pound for pound, they're some mean & hard fighting things. ? I love throwing lipless cranks, especially in the Fall. Great for catching numbers & big ones. I even catch the occasional crappie on them.
  21. You've kinda resurrected an old thread here, so not so sure you'll get a reply to your question. He may be talking about these Wobblehead lures. They used to sell these at our local Bass Pro, but no longer carry them. These create a great action with straight tail worms like a trick worm. I've caught some good fish with them. They don't have the sharpest hooks tho, unless they've upgraded them in the past few yrs. Looks like you can still order them thru their website. http://www.wobbleheadlures.com/ I found these a few weeks ago on TW. They look interesting as well. The head kinda has a "jitterbug" shape. Looks like you just screw a straight tail worm onto it. Could potentially create a nice topwater action. Kind of expensive, so I'm reluctant to pull the trigger in case it's more gimmick than a true fish catcher. They're made by Lake Fork Tackle. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lake_Fork_Tackle_Hissy_Fit/descpage-LFTHF.html
  22. Wow! Down goes Clemson!
  23. You know you're old when...... wait. What are we talking about again?
  24. Thought the same. Was surprised Mich St pulled it off. Not a big Harbaugh fan, so was kinda fun to see them lose. Plus, I always seem to pull for the underdog when it's teams I don't follow as closely.
