Just signed up. I learned how to build rods as a young kid living in Lantana Beach Florida. I hung out at a Bait store, "Capt. Johns Bait and Tackle", which changed owners and names long ago, and it was there that Capt. John taught me how to wrap big saltwater trolling rods and diamond wraps. I'm 47 now and have been an avid fisherman since, my career carries me all over the US and for the past several years I've been heavy into the amateur bass tournament scene. I recently had an urge to build myself a few custom rods so I purchased all of the equipment and got started. Grant it, it's been about 30 years since I've attempted building a rod and I can say that building on a small diameter bass rod is much different than a large diameter saltwater rod. My first attempt was a MHX High mod which I was very pleased with. My second a Rainshadow Eternity with Titanium / Torzite guides which I just finished. I can say I'm now hooked again and seeking to gain more knowledge here on this forum. A few pics of the rods I built attached. I'm kicking myself in the butt for not trimming down the reel seat barrel thread length on the rainshadow.
