  1. To answer your question, yes big worms make a difference in summer... if you want to catch big bass. If I were you I'd go with culprit 12" inch worms or 12" Zoom ok monster worms. Use a 5/0 to 7/0 hook depending on how thick the worm is. Here are the reasons why they work so well for big bass in the summer: 1. Large bass are usually lethargic in the summer --- you need a slow moving bait. 2. A 12 inch worm is perfect because it is a big easy meal that can and they don't have to do much work to get it. Think about it this way: if you were really hungry and tired and saw a sign that said free burgers right next to you, there wouldn't be any reason not to take one and eat it just like a bass when it sees a huge juicy worm right next to it. If it were smaller the fish might not think it's worth the effort of catching for something that won't even be enough for the next while.
  2. These worms are really big and I usually use a 5/0 anyway. Like huge worms and they are thick at the top, it has always worked fine and I get better hookup ratios with them.
  3. I'm going fishing in a pond in Georgia tomorrow and I'm having trouble deciding what bullet weight size to use. The deepest part of the pond is probably around 8,9,10 feet. The conditions: it should be a bit rainy/overcast but not too windy or anything and the pond isn't that big so not much current either. The bass are consistently huge too, last time I didn't Catch one under four pounds. Now that you know all that... I'll be throwing a 12 inch ribbon tail worm with a 7/0 hook and I'm trying to decide between a 1/4 or 3/8 ounce bullet weight, any suggestions? I don't think there will be many weeds.
  4. Duckett ghost seven foot crankin rod paired with a lews speed spool. ($200)
  5. So right now I have been using a 7 foot ghost crankin rod for all of my reaction baits -- (It's verry parabolic) and I've started to notice it doesn't do to well with bigger spinnerbaits and large soft swimbaits. However it does great with crankabaits (except for deep diving) and most chatterbaits. Do any of you have suggestions for a cheap extra rod that would work well for throwing these heavier reaction baits? I was thinking a 7 med heavy fast, but don't know what specific rod would be best. Thanks
  6. I know everyone asks this, but I have two setups right now, a 8:1:1 *** paired with an Okuma worm and jig rod (7 ft medium heavy fast action), I mainly use that for Texas rigs and top water fishing. Then I have a seven ft medium duckett ghost crankin rod with a 5:6:1 tournament mb that I throw pretty much everything else on -- crankbaits, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits etc. I am looking for another rod and reel that could be used to have an extra lure tied on that could kind of perform with most baits well. I would pair this setup with a speed spool 6:4:1. Any suggestions for what rod to get that is 90 bucks or under? I know about ducketts and all those rods at 99.99 but I want to try something new that is a bit cheaper? Any suggestions? Thanks. Or do you think the setups I have will cover it all?
  7. Thanks for correcting me on that one, I'm new to all this fishfinder stuff, thanks.
  8. Thanks so much. That picture helped a lot knowing how much/ far the waves are reaching. Where do you get structure scan/how much is it? I have the hummingbird helix 5 and was wondering does that have it?
  9. So pretty much you kind of have to guess cast all around your boat, and once you get a bite you'll know where they are?
  10. Hhaha true. How were you able to get to know your waters well?
  11. I know how to read and use my electronics, but once I find a nice school of bass how do I know where to cast in order to be right on top of them? Are they under my boat? To the right? To the left? In front of the boat? Behind the boat? Same question goes for casting towards points and ledges holding fish. Thanks so much
  12. I am on chickamauaga lake and going fishing in the morning. The water temperature is right at or a little below 70. What depths and areas/ structures should I target for largemouths? Also, what top water bait would be good, or should I he throwing top water at all?
