Line Versatility From Crappie to Pike
Sounds good. You think a 1/2 oz spinner would be overkill? The rod is rated up to 5/8oz. Yeah I'm definitely just going to set this rod up for pike for now and not worry about it for crappie. Should I go with 15 lb or 20 lb braid?

Nice that sounds good to me. I'll get the 150 yard 15 lb Power Pro and back it with Stren, but what happens if/when I run out of braid? I just tie more to the mono or I need to re-spool everything? I'm glad the Palomar knot is the knot I'm the most comfortable with.

Line Versatility From Crappie to Pike
Great idea I didn't even think about that. I did make another topic asking a little more about this and what I think I'll do is put on 15 lb Power Pro to focus on the pike for now. If it is ok to rig slip bobbers on braid then I'll definitely just change the leader if I want to go for crappie and walleye. So yeah I'll put 8 lb Stren on my 6' ML and 15 lb Power Pro on 6'6" M. Thank you for the help.

Perfect that helps a lot. I will go with braid. What do you mean use a black marker?

2 Spinning Reel Questions
I have a size 35 reel that says 10lbs / 155 yards. For a M 6'6" rod as long as I stay in the lure weight range, can I spool it with thin 16 lb mono and not worry about anything? Silly question is there a way I can take line off one spinning reel to put it on a different reel?

Line Versatility From Crappie to Pike
Ahh ok I see. Of course the opportunity for pike came after I got everything set for walleye. Without going too heavy on the lures I might need to just work with the 6'6" M and see how it goes the first time.

Line Versatility From Crappie to Pike
A reservoir in Colorado. They actually want fishermen to catch the pike so they can eliminate them from the ecosystem. That one is huge. I guess the pike in this reservoir were illegally added not too long ago.

Line Versatility From Crappie to Pike
Oh really you mean for the pike? So maybe a stronger 10lb test? I don't know for sure but I don't think the pike are going to be huge.

Line Versatility From Crappie to Pike
Or can anyone tell me if original 10 lb stren on a 6' ML would be an overkill for crappie slip bobbers and jigs?

Line Versatility From Crappie to Pike
Next month we are planning to go casting for pike and wondering if someone can help determine if my current setup is ok? I have a spinning 6' ML with no line on it, and a spinning 6'6" M with 8 lb Stren Magnathin. As long as I have a wire leader will I be ok with the 6'6"? Should I just spool my 6' ML with the extra Stren I have? I want to be able to use it for the pike, jigging soft plastics for crappie and walleye, and slip bobbers.

Line Twist Above Bail
Thank you for the advice. More than likely going to pick up 8lb mono for jigging and slip bobbers

Line Twist Above Bail
Thank you. I will definitely switch out the fluorocarbon for mono or braid. Anyone know if braided line is good/ok for jig heads and slip bobbers? Amazing tips here. I will stop letting the slack let out too much after casting. Next time I go fishing I will drag my line (with no lure) in the water to let it untwist. fishnkamp- I will have to re-read your post a few times. I'm new to this so not sure if I quite understand. One this is that I'm pretty positive I won't be using fluoro anymore. So if I want to spool two different lines on, I tie them together halfway through spooling the first line? Again thank you for the tips. They are helping me a bunch!

Line Twist Above Bail
I got a new spinning reel(pflueger president)/rod a few weeks ago. I've been fishing with it twice and noticed when I cast the line twists itself about 6 inches above the bail. I run my finger through it and all is good but it is annoying. I don't if I messed it up during a cast or what, but how do I fix this? Line I'm using is 8lb Berkley Vanish fluorocarbon.

Awesome I will do that. Nice. I will look into that. Will definitely do more research on the diver and snap weights!

Ahh ok, I'm also spacing because J Francho said it didnt matter in the first reply, now it makes even more since. I love how they break down the method on the Cabela's Combo. I'm 99% sure I'll be picking that up. So say I go with the 8'6" trolling combo. Would I pretty much be set, or I'd also need to pick up the Jet Diver to get to further depths? I can tell you've got your research down, I'm not sure if I ever would have found the combo or Jet Diver if you didn't respond to this.
