I guess I won't give up on fluorocarbon yet. I've even used Invizx 8 lb. as a leader before, and it almost always broke at the knot for me. It just struck me as weird. The line shouldn't have had any abrasions at the point where it broke, because it was new line and that portion of the line hadn't even been much below the surface of the water. It did take a hell of a lot of force to break it, so I'm not worried that it could have cost me a fish.
I used fluorocarbon (15 lb. Seaguar Invizx) for the first time today and both times when my jig got snagged and I went to break it off, it broke where I had it wrapped around my sleeve instead of at the knot like I'm used to. If I continue to lose line at that rate, I'll have to respool every other trip. Is there a trick to getting it to break off at the knot?
