  1. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B076W2N5TH/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 For this season I settled for the Garmin Striker Plus 4Cv . Seemed to have good reviews. Before next tournament season I'll look into a quality SI unit. Appreciate the advice. Let me know what y o.oiu think of my decision
  2. Amazing has a used/like new Humminbird 410220-1 Helix 5, Chirp Di GPS G2, for 269. Would this be a good option? also consider Garmin echoMAP CHIRP 54cv with transducer, 010-01799-01
  3. Anyone have some experience with this boat? Have a chance to pick it up a 2018 model with overdrive for 1500 today. Looking for pros and cons. As always, thanks in advanced for the excellent advice!!
  4. Looks like you had a good day! Fishing a kayak tournament therr in April, should be fun!
  5. Yes it is a propel model. Doesn't look like it comes with anything but the kayak and pedal drive system. Says fish finder but it appears outdated and no mention of a battery. Occasionally the Pescador pilots go up for around $1,000 and I'm wondering if that is a better option.
  6. Have the opportunity to buy this for $1,000. The problem is, is it's a 2014 model and I'm concerned about the age. Anyone have this kayak and shed some light on how they hold up?
  7. Assuming the keitech, and its dense profile, help keep it down. Anyone have any tips to keep it low in the water columnn?
  8. Went to SirebertOutdoors sight for the first time today and the bait monkey hit me pretty hard. Went to buy some of their bladed jigs and ended up buying over $50 worth of lures. 2- foggy bladed jigs 2- Dock Rcoker jigs 6 - Spinnerbaits- I don't even remember clicking them I swear! I've actually heard good things about the Spinnerbaits on this forum, but don't recall anyone mentioning the bladed jigs. Anyone use them with some success?
  9. I recently purchased a Pelican Pilot 12 ft pedal drive Kayak, and plan to begin fishing my second season of tournaments in April with it. It does not currently have a fish finder. I am fairly green to bass fishing, but I love the competition of the tournaments. I upgraded to the pedal drive to be more competitive in the tournaments and after spending $1300 on that I don't have much of a budget for a fish finder. If you were in my situation would you spend $300 or less on a DI sonar or roll without a fish finder until you could afford a SI sonar? As always, thank you for the expertise and fantastic advice on this forum!
  10. Interesting idea.. the reel looks solid and I know folks love the lighting rod. Assuming the reel I would want is the SHIMANO 0068-2681 Sn2500Fe?
  11. Thank you! As always you have been exceptionally helpful.
  12. This will be my second post of the day - cabin fever is sitting in hard now that hunting season is over here in Oklahoma! Basically I have a $60 balance on my amazon account I am going to use towards a spinning combo. Will this combo meet my needs for experimenting with dropshot/ned/some Texas rigging or would I be better served looking at something else in a similar price point. I'm open to any suggestions, but I don't want to go to much over $60 if any. Pflueger Trion Spinning Combo - 6'6" Medium-1pcs $59.95 - Reel size is 35
  13. I know this has been asked before, but I can't figure out an answer to my specific question. I used alcohol to clean some 1/2 oz red eye shad and rusted the hooks :? I know, bad idea. I am in the market for replacement hooks and am unsure of what side to get. Most suggest Mustad UltraPoint KVD Elite Series Triple Grip Treble Hook with 1 Extra Strong and 2 Extra Short Hooks in size 2 - is this correct for both hooks? or Should I get something like Gamakatsu Short Shank Treble Hook in size 4? Appreciate the any help!
  14. Anyone know anything about these rods? I can purchase one for $30 but can't find out much about it. Says nighthawk on the rod. thank you
  15. Anyone know anything about these rods? I can purchase one for $30 but can't find out much about it. Says nighthawk on the rod. thank you
  16. Everyone's responses have been exceptional. Thank you for all the help! Hunting season is over and I'm just waiting for March now.
  17. Appreciate the response so far! 5 is an arbitrary number and it will likely expand. Hard not to with all the options out there. I’ll look into shaky head fishing and try and get some practice on it. I’ve never had much luck with top water, but when I have its been with a frog, so I’ll add it to the tackle box. 1. Lipless Crank baits- by far my favorite bait. I've caught my personal best on it and it is a constant producer for me. 2. Spinner bait / Chatter bait – any suggestions on a trailer? 3. Ned Rig/Drop shot/Craw/Texas rigged worm/creature bait(baby brush hog)- Any suggestions on a worm choice? 4. Frog and maybe a whopper plopper 5. Owner Flashy Swimmer with CPS – 4 inch Keitech Swimbait 6. Some type of jig setup but I've had difficulty getting them to bite it and my confidence is a little shot on it. With this Drop shotting, ned rig, and true swim bait fishing will be new to me. Any other glaring holes? I do not like square bill crankbaits and am not willing to try them again this year.
  18. This upcoming season will be my second season of bass fishing from a Kayak. Last season I decided to begin Bass fishing and even fished some tournaments. It was a blast, but as you can imagine I was all over the place. I loved to tournaments and plan on fishing at least 5 around Oklahoma this season. Last year I had pretty poor success in the tournaments. I have contributed this to being all over the place and trying too many techniques. Some won't agree with this, but this year I am limiting myself to 5 TOTAL techniques. No matter the situation I am only going to have 5 techniques in my bag. Additionally, I am going to have 2 baitcasting rods and one lighter spinning set up. What I am needing help with is choosing my last 2 techniques. 1. Lipless Crankbaits- by far my favorite bait. I've caught my personal best on it and it is a constant producer for me. 2. Spinnerbait - terminator 3. Ned Rig- new to this-this years, but I have seen such good things from it I can't wait to try it. The person who I've seen fish this successfully also has luck with a craw on the same rig so this includes the ZMAN NED Worms and Craws on this rig. What would you suggest my other two techniques be? I'm new to the sport and learning, but I have been fishing all my life. If it helps the tournaments I plan on fishing are listed below. Thanks in advance for the assistance! April 6, 2019: Lake Fuqua/Clear Creek Lake/Lake Humphreys - Duncan OK April 20, 2019: Lake Konawa - Konawa OK May 18, 2019: Lake Of The Arbuckles - Sulphur OK Ju ly 13, 2019: 2019 Annual OKA Open - Fort Gibson Lake - Fort Gibson OK March 1, 2019 - April 30, 2019:
  19. I am going to be fishing in a kayak tournament in early March on Lake Konawa (in south Central oklahoma) amd was wondering if anyone had any advice for that particular lake? Any help would be appreciated. I think I am going to get a practice day in sometime this next week but I am not a experienced bass angler.
