How/Where I Fish:
I fish mostly in Arkansas, mostly from the bank. I fish ponds, smaller community size lakes, small rivers, and the giant arkansas river. Eventually I would like a boat, but I dont have frequent access to one.
I use the MH baitcaster for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, spooks, paddletail swimbaits, and larger soft plastics
I use the spinning rod for smaller plastics and weightless worms, drop shot
I just got the heavy baitcaster so I can throw top hook swimbaits in the neighborhood of 1.5 oz, things like whopper ploppers and the S Waver, frogs, and jigs
My Reason For Posting:
As you can see, I didnt say I throw any sort of crankbait which isnt entirely true. Having an unfortunate one treble hook stuck in my dominant hand and the other stuck to a fish situation, I do kinda shy away from trebles in general recently, but even so when I throw them, they're typically topwater or shallow like the rapala shallow minnow so I dont get snagged as much fishing from shore.
But if you had this setup and wanted to fish a lipless, squarebill, or other crank, which rod would you put it on? Would you put monfilament on one (or a seperate spool) to nudge the setup to something more suited for cranks? Also, which baitcaster would you throw buzzbaits on? Would you throw a large carolina rig on the 7'3" heavy baitcaster or a small ARig when you're on a boat?
If you have any other suggestions to tweak for max utility, feel free as well. When I get a boat, I will for sure get a moderate action rod for cranks, and maybe downsize the spinning rod to a ML but until then, I would appreciate input.
