  1. Thanks for the help! I'm definitely gonna be picking it up. My main problem is versatility. I have my confidence baits and even though they catch a ton of fish I would like to expand to catch bigger fish and more fish and be able to do whatever it is the fish are biting. And I have the blackout which is the same blank as the fate chrome with the same quides and I can say it definitely feels like a solid rod in your hands. Should have been priced at more than it was in my opinion
  2. Right now I'm planning on getting a 13 ***. I'm a big *** fan. They are solid rods and reels. And I'll probably pair it with either a *** or the new shimano Sahara Not really sure as to why it blanks out the brands
  3. That's pretty much the same I use my medium light for. And I also Kayak fish and honesty would prefer to use a spinning rod just because it's easier to get distants on casts. I'm just debating if getting a Medium to go along with my Medium Light is worth it or just a waste of money(at this point. I will probably get it regardless eventually)
  4. Well see I use 20lb braid on a medium light. Probably not ideal but it's worked perfectly for awhile now
  5. Well right now I only have 4 rods. A Medium Light Spinning which primarily has a wacky rig tied on, Medium Baitcasting which usually has a Spinnerbait chatterbait or crankbait of some sort tied on(the rod is designed for plastics so i also throw weightles senkos cause it casts them amazing. However I dont like using it for shaky heads. IDK why just personal prefrence), Medium heavy casting which usually has a jig or weighted texas rig or flip bait tied on, and my cranking rod. I am a power fisherman but if fish are biting a wacky rigged senko i wont put that rod down. even if its a cranking bite or anything else. I am considering getting a medium so i can learn to slow down and fish shakey heads, weightless texas rigged trick worms, ned rigs more(realisticly the only finesse bait I throw is wacky rig) so is it worth getting another spinning? Im slowly building my arsenal and I also am a tournament fisherman and shaky heads and trick worms are huge factors where i fish so i think this could help me learn.
  6. So in your opinion is it even worth buying a medium as well? I just like the idea of being able to have wacky rig tied on one and for instance a weightless senko texas rigged on the other.(I have a hard time skipping with a baitcaster and my whole hinking is getting this rod for things I cant skip and also or shakey heads and other baits like maybe a weightless trick worm)
  7. The one im looking at is the *** *** by ***. Im a huge fan of their products. I also plan on using this for maybe some very light finesse spinnerbaits and jerkbaits. I use a medium light now for finesse applcations. Thats all that I have. I love the feel of it though because a 2lber feels huge. I got is specifically for drop shotting but havent done much of that yet with it. Im just not sure if its worth getting a second spinning rod.
  8. Im the same way. I have a Mojo Bass 6'10" medium light I use for most finesse techniques. Its deigned for droppshotting. That rod hardly leaves my hand. Im just not sure if its worth buying a medium when i have that rod.
  9. I have a Medium Light right now I use for drop shotting and pretty much all finesse. Its the only spinning rod I own. I wanna get a medium or Wacky rig, light shakey heads and even skipping weightless t rigged senkos under docks and overhangs.
  10. Thinking about picking up a new spinning rod that will be a 7'3" Medium. What are some good uses for this rod?????
  11. I think this will probably be what i go with. A lot of the swimbaits i will be using have trebles and i feel like braid will just pull that right out of their mouths.
  12. Thats part of the reason i wanna go with a cranking reel. Im considering a cardiff but dont wanna spend a whole lot and I also am not a fan of round reels and it weights like 8 ounces.
  13. I take it youre from around here? And yea ive never caught a bowfin but people always tell me that lake is full of them. Espically in the very back. Right now im leaning towards Copoly. Ive broke fluro on hooksets with a Jig and i set the hook really hard so im sure throwing things like huds i might break off pretty easy. As of right now Im thinking probably 25lb Izorline XXX
  14. Ill keep that in mind. I was reading reviews and people really seemed to like Izorline. I just want something that iis very strong and very abrasion resistant so it wont break easily.
  15. Im leaning towards CXX at the moment. Like i said before its fairly inexpensive so its something i would change pretty often just to prevent any break offs. I used 15 hybraid before and it has way too much memory for me. Right now i think im leaning towards 25lb Izorline XXX or P Line CXX
  16. Theres Pike Bowfin(not sure if they have teeth honestly) and gar. Some lakes more than other. Most of our lakes catching pike is a once every few outings kind of thing. Other lakes you catch 1 bass for every 5 pike. But for the most part i dont think id get bit off too much in my lakes.
  17. I might go with that. Its pretty inexpensive as well so its something i could change often to prevent breakoffs. I plan on using gantarels and huddlestons and gantarels are floating so im ok for the most part. I agree. The only time I use a leader if when im dropshotting and wacky rigging. and thats 20lb test braid tied to an 8lb FC leader using and FG knot. Ive never had that knot fail on me but i dont wanna be using a leader for $20-$40 baits because thats just another connection to worry about.
  18. Honestly if Im going to put a lot of money into swimbaits then im willing to spend a whole lot on the line. I use 30lb Power Pro for Jigs and T Rigs and J Braid on my spinning so might just go with that. I just want quality line to make sure i dont have break offs. I would be willing to do that. Like i said i just dont wanna risk breaking off on big fish or breaking off on a cast or if i get hung up. Since this is all new to me Im more or less looking for what the best would be with the least amount of breakoffs even if my performance and fish catching ability isnt as great. Someone else told me to use that and Ive used CXX for cranking. Ive heard its a good strong line and its also cheap. Thats definitley something I am considering. Like i said im more looking for a line that will be the best to learn with and not the best performance wise. If that makes any sense at all
  19. Majority of the water I fish is pretty stained and muddy and leader doesnt make that much of a difference so I will probably be throwing 50lb braid with no leader or maybe even 65. Like I said Im only in high school and even when im working I dont have a whole lot of money to spend on swimbaits. I will probably be buying some Ganatarels and Girons because on TackleWarehouse right now if you spend $75 you get a free Gantarel
  20. OK thanks! I actually use that now for cranking and for spinnerbaits and some of my reaction baits. Im a huge fan. It has some decent memory but I just spray it down with line conditioner and it works great. I think Ill go with that. I just dont wanna lose a $40 swimbait in 20 feet of water. The most I plan on spending is maybe a Jackal Ganteral but those are floaters so i should be okay with those.
  21. So i've posted about every other thing relating to a dedicated swimbait setup except for line. I plan on using the Orra Winch that has a line capacity of 12/190. (This is just a starter reel for this. I dont know how I will like throwing big swimbaits and dont want to spend a ton of money on a reel) I am curious as to what people think the best line for this is. I'm 16 in high school so I dont have a lot of money to buy swimbaits so i want a good strong line that wont cast off my swimbaits randomly and break easily. I also plan on using this setup for A-Rigs come winter time. I've heard people say 65lb Braid and others say 25lb Fluro and some even say copoly. I just wanna know what the best line would be to be strong and not break easily and also have enough capacity on the reel since I am not getting a 300 sized reel.
  22. Ok this cleared it up for me. Thanks! I just don't wanna spend $200+ on a reel for something I probably won't be doing that often that's why I figured I'd take advantage of the sale on the orra winch and go with that.
  23. This sounds like a pretty good thing to try. I think a lot of people think that a wacky rig is limited to stick baits but theres a lot of other things that bass havent seen that could be awesome techniques. This is something im definitley going to try!
  24. I'm a big fan of my Revo. I actually got it on sale at Dicks for $60. They had 3 of them and I regret not buying them all. I have it paired with a veritas winch and it's the perfect cranking setup for all situations. That's my only complaint is the breaking system and I feel like the orra breaking system would be much better.
  25. That's why I posted this was to see if anyone would give me some good ideas lol. I might have to try that sounds like it would be a pretty solid bait I've never heard of that but I'll have to look into it
