  1. Don't worry about upgrading your rod.. like someone else said go out there and give it hell! I learned a baitcaster on a 6 1/2' M Cherrywood rod. I fished it for 2-3yrs until I could afford a better rod. I'd be lying if I told you that the difference between a $25 rod and a $100 rod isn't that large (it most definitely is) but I caught a lot of fish and had a blast usin' it. ??
  2. I'm gonna guess around 75/25, with casting being the 75. Most of it has to do with the fact that I only own one crappy spinning rod, when I upgrade here soon I'm sure it'll be more like 60/40. Esp when I start experimenting with shaky heads and drop shotting. I use spinning gear for 1/16-1/8 T-rigs, skipping docks, and Pop R's. My 7' M BCer does the rest of 1/4 T rigs, lighter jigs, spinnerbaits, Senkos, shallow diving cranks, etc.
