ya'll have been extreeemely helpful.. big takeaways from this. I want a brushless-trolling motor, so it feels like a cable steer (right?) Consider weight, QUEST seems to offer some help with this instead of the standard Ultrex Consider integrations, are they worth it to me? would I use it? how would I use it? Price points, comparing Black Friday deals across them all anything i'm missing to weigh/consider? edit: hummingbird side imaging is the best in the industry (to my eyes), but I have two echomaps already from Garmin, I could "in theory" get a Hummingbird at the console, use that for my side imaging and anything I see on there just mark it as a waypoint on my Garmin, then if I did get an Ultrex, I'd have some integration with the HB/Ultrex... thoughts?

so, I see the integrations with the Garmin Force Pro .. but, how many people are really sitting at their console with their TM deployed and managing it from there? why not just use the remote instead? when would there even be a need to be sitting at your console and say, "oh let me manage my trolling motor through my chartplotter" ? I ask myself this a lot when I see these "one boat network", I feel like we put our TM down when we fish, we lift it when were not fishing the whole TM to fish finder integration is still confusing as to when or why someone would "actually" do this? .. can anyone help chime in on experience please?

Bro - thanks so much, that was very insightful - I feel like the QUEST is the right decision I liked the Garmin Force with its integration into my electronics, but.. the more I think of it i'm not sure how useful it'll ACTUALLY be, you know? Thank you for explaining all that and helping me make a good decision Thanks to the other gentlemen, much appreciated - I was worried it'd be overkill for my Tracker and end up regretting it, but it sounds like; - it's heavy, so consider it - it doesn't jerk, its smooth - the feeling of cable steer is still there and likable - the remotes are decent, upgrade if possible (i'd use this a lot actually) I think 24v would be plenty? im not sure if 36v would give me a whole lot more benefit? like a 36v 100ah lithium battery vs a 24v one?

Yooo... just bought a new (used) bass tracker 170, I fish a reservoir, no grass, will fish some local areas with grass but 90% will be my home lake no grass. I need a trolling motor (currently do not have one), something ya only buy once every so often (at least I do) and honestly never bought my own, just used the basic one that came on whatever jon boat or whatever came with my old boat the two im looking at, i want spot lock, i use livescope, any integration with my screens being garmin is a plus since thats what i run -Garmin Force Pro -Ultrex 1.) has anyone used one of these specifcally on a bass tracker? or similar style boat? (like not on a big glass boat, a 160 to 175 aluminum style boat) 2) your thoughts on it? was it too much? was the spot lock "jerky"? 3) I want cable steer, so i have maximum fine control moving it/panning it, any experience w/ that? thanks guys

man thats something id never think to do lol yea - I agree w/ this thanks for all the feedback from everyone, I've caughta handfull of bass with tails in their gullets and always had me wondering.. plus when I'm throwing a huge swimbait around, my natrual incline is "oh its going to come from behind to eat this, 5-6" of the bait is in its mouth before it reaches the hook" then I think.. no, its biting the head, to kill, injure, confuse then eat, and will hit the hook first... you guys see the battles in my head ?! ... lol thanks for the opinions guys

yeah those spines are no joke. I caught about 4lber the other day, had a huge tail in its gullet, I was throwing 8" magdraft, had me thinking how do they usually eat their prey- most the time when we reel them to the boat we just have the hook in there, we dont always see HOW they ate it .. had me curious what others thought

sup fishing freaks we all see it, we catch a bass with a fish in eats gullet.. we see the tail, not the head.. do bass always eat their baits (and hopefully our lures) eat first? so these big swimbaits we fish with, we can (hope) assume they will bite the head or body and not come up behind it? thoughts? tight lines homies

I don't think mine has the tilt feature, I wish - or there was a way to do that :-/ it's a jon, so I think I may be able to push it a little? or do some kind of stop and go/stomp the brake and kind of get it to slide some?

yeah that's awesome .. I have a feeling if I do some of the work around that area myself, it'll be great.. I see some boats on my neighbors' property, thought about leaving a note at their door or something, get to know the people a little bit, maybe they do it too/already? smart man .. good call, that actually might be something i need to keep handy in that area ... I 'd hate to have to not use that area because it's delicious for bass, it's quiet, etc .. i think i should at least try it once haha if i get stuck, then oh well, it cant be that difficult to get out, considering all circumstances of the location

thanks for that - i feel like they did that so other people could dump there boat, id obviosly have to hold on to the rope, then like tug it to shore, tie it to a tree or something, park the car, in the little area they have, then hop in boat, then use some kind of metal bar i have to push off the shore? its a unique area, not alot of space, BUUUUUT if i get it down, and it works? i have a feeling ill have a AWESOME fishing season right there, cause not many are coming down that channel of water i live on and its super shallow, like 2-5 feet deep

Hey guys, I recently bought a house on a reservoir, small cut out the local people put in a small 30 yard area, gravel. There a small car width entrance into the water they likely had a backhoe dig out, super convenient for a kayak or small boat to dump in, it's completely man made, its not fancy or anything, just something they prob thought to do so folks can do just that.. heres my quesiton forgive me, ill post a picture of it later today when i get home.. but i have a pretty nice jon boat, decked out, i usually go to the marina up the street but thats in a more popular section of the reservoir, where i live its a lot more quiet, less traffic.. so naturally id like to be able to dump my boat into this little cut out question: if i put tried to dump the boat there, back the trailer up, etc.. would the weight of the boat/trailer make it stick in the mud? it doesnt look "too muddy", a little gravel in the water, anyone have experience launching boats without a proper launch? am i crazy? its my second year with the boat, so ... forgive my lack of knowledge, looking for advice from those who have done similar ****. thanks, GB

Thanks you guys. I kind of thought his statement was BS. I get it, a bigger boat is always nice, but if 1ft can make ALLLLLL the difference then I seriously call BS. More of a reason than just handling water for me to get a bigger boat would be more room and space, considering I just hooked my gf a week ago, her not being in my casting radius means more than just battling a rough lake. This is actually quite hilarious i'm reading this.. not the fact that 1000's are missing but yesterday when I was fishing I through my shakey head at an overhang, it got snagged.. like we all do sometimes BUT.. as im trolling over to it, my freaking dropshot weight on another rod was hanging over the boat, ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE BAD HABIT of mine, is leaving my stuff hanging over the boat when not in use.. well, the weight wrapped around another tree limb and dragged the rod 1/4" away from dropping into some nasty heavily limbered tree ~12ft deep, my girlfriend wasnt paying attention (go fn figure) and I luckily saved it in time.. almost fell in, then almost hooked myself, burned my boat by dropping my cigarette,.... long story short, it was an intense 30 seconds and i learned a valuable lesson. HAVE BETTER CASTING AIM! haha

A buddy of mine was giving me advice on size of boat to fish it. I live close to it. I fish the reservoir 3-5x a week, but sometimes I get tired of the struggle there and just want to catch a lot of fish, potomac/belmont bay area has NEVER let me down. So.. Due to the variables of weather, he said don't get anything smaller than 20ft.. he said 18/19 and even 20ft on even semi windy days absolutely sucks out there in the middle of the bay fishing the grass. He said 21ft or more.. thoughts, advice, opinions?
