yeah i get that a lot lol...but for anyone outside the Marines they call us former so I just go along with it. With fellow Marines we all know what we are. When it comes to public once we aren't active duty we're former Marines or nothing at all to them. Anyways back to bass fishing lol. Hope to see all you guys around the forum some time, Im waiting on a big catch, the New River is pretty slow right now and I don't believe in fish finders lol.

I honestly haven't tried any yet but I might some day. It doesn't take me too long to tie a good knot and a swivel could be the difference in catching a fish or not catching a fish I'd think. I've heard good and bad about swivels so i'm mixed about them. I have some and might try them eventually but to me tying a knot real quick isn't a big deal and fishing require patience and tying knots is a part of that. I'm sure small swivels are fine though and don't make a huge impact, I catch bass with a good sized obvious weight on my line so swivel shouldn't bother them much.

Has anyone here ever fished on our West Virginia New River? It's a great place to fish and many pros have caught good size bass from it. If you have fished here before what was your preferred bait and color? Include time of day and season if you don't mind, that of course plays a part. I've had good luck with senkos and spinners.

Thanks! Most of the fish yesterday were pretty small. There were some big ones out there but I didn't happen to catch one. It'd be nice to have a boat lol. I bank fish or find rocks in the middle of the river to jump to. Around where in WV are ya? Don't have to say the town or nothin. I'm in Oak Hill, Fayette County.

Just got back into fishing since I was about 17 and I've chosen strictly bass fishing. I've been going for about a week now and here's my first decent sized bass I just pulled today. I'm excited about catching more and bigger bass. I'm Devin Hall and I'm a 28 year old former Marine from West Virginia. My favorite spot to fish is Hawks Nest which runs off of the New River.
