  1. Anyone use rubber nets or have experience with one? Im looking into getting one mainly for walleye and pike. To me they seem like i would have less problems with tangles and hooks getting stuck in the mesh.
  2. i had full cover warranty and traded it for a 7'6" H F villain 2.0
  3. literally purchased a 7'6" heavy xf from bp a week ago and snapped the tip after my 2nd hookset while pitching. It was a johnny morris platinum rod dont know if it was defective or not though but the xf tip just seemed too brittle
  4. the only time i use a spinning rod is when im moving a worm harness, dropshot or splitshot for walleye. 6'6" med action 12 lb mono abu reel
  5. maybe the guy who invented baitcasters was dominant left handed and put the retrieve on the right side for himself and when he sold his idea off to companies they were too dumb at the time to flip the gears on the left side to make a left handed reel, or just totally oblivious to that idea and because of that people had no choice to learn that way regardless of what hand they were dominant with because that was unfortunately the only way available at the time.
  6. Just ordered it, gonna pair it with a revo rocket and use it to punch flip n pitch the heavy stuff
  7. How should a dominant right handed person hold and retrieve (baitcasting) ? Im dominant with my right hand but i retrieve left both spinning and casting outfits. Why do some anglers reel left with a spinning rod and then reel right with a casting ??
  8. Anyone got a villain 2.0 and use it for flippin n pitching? Thinking of getting one in a 7'6" heavy fast. Reviews ?
  9. Has anyone ever fished muldrew lake? What species does it hold ?
  10. a glide bait can be retrieved slowly and is probably a better choice for lethargic fish. But personally ive caught more fish burning the bait back with random pauses and twitches. The key is the pauses and twitches though, thats when the fish hit it. The speedy retrieval gets the fish excited and that pause n twitch gives the fish a chance to strike. Try it out next time your on the water
  11. 1. medium - fast retrieve if fish are active and slow roll with random pops if bite is off 2. steady medium retrieve or pull the bait in with the rod and reel in the slack line (fish usually bite on the pause) 3. slow medium or fast retrive with jerks and pops depending on depth 4. fast retrieve with pauses and quick jerks 5. Slow bottom bouncing retrive with jerks 6. Medium retrieve with quick pops
  12. 1/2 oz spinnerbait Chartreuse/white skirt with Colorado blades (gold if water is murky, silver if clear) are a must. chuck that out and slow roll it up into the shallows and every now and then give it a short pop and watch the fish hit it
  13. You will only get better at fishing by fishing more. Being a beginner angler is confusing and tough at times you really just need to be on the water and different waters to gain your experience. Fishing heavy cover requires experience in fishing heavy cover. Its pretty straight forward what im saying is the more you do something the better you will get at it so dont give up !
  14. I agree that this set up would be optimal for flipping but reason i think it would double as a good pike setup is because most of my pike has been caught in very weedy areas and they usually tend to bullet down into them moments after the hookset. I think a h xf flipping setup would work to my favour to help pull up those aggressive pike up from those thick weedbeds. If you think otherwise or if im wrong let me know as im debating on purchasing a setup like this
  15. what about the extra fast action? How do you think it would work with pike?
  16. How would a 7'6" heavy power extra fast action casting rod equiped with a 8.3:1 reel with 14lbs max drag spooled up with 50lb braid hold up against fishing for moderate to trophy sized northerns ?
  17. How you think it would work throwing 1/2 oz spinnerbaits?
  18. They come with micro guides but i dont know if that would really make a difference considering how stiff it is.
  19. Im just curious as to what type of fishing a hvy power xf casting rod at 7'6" would be good for? I went to bass pro and saw the johnny morris platinum rods in mh and hvy and the only action the hvy rods come in is xf. ...new to this forum
