How to tell “punchable” grass
I would say it’s hydrilla or hyacinth. It’s in water between 3-10 feet. I’ll take a picture and post it

How to tell “punchable” grass
Sooo my lake where I usually fish seems to have a lot more weeds than usual, they are poking out the top of the water and it’s covers. Whole back flat area where I usually catch fish. Last year it was submerged but now it seems to be all on top. I can’t tell if it’s just slop on top or if it’s rly weeds grown threw .. how can you tell if it’s punchable grass so I can just get threw and in the bass I usually catch. Or just overgrown weeds

Setting drag for frogs.
Thank you , I do use my thumb from time to time but I guess I forget sometimes and let it slide. I don’t wanna wear out my casting reel, I’ll learn to thumb better

Setting drag for frogs.
Ok thank you so the 10 pound is strong enough. I was just thinking of getting the REVO s gen 4. It has 20 pounds max drag I believe.

Setting drag for frogs.
Yeah I sm using 50 pound braid and have my reel locked down to max 10 pound drag. I set the hook few times today and the drag still slipped a bit. Just didn’t know if that was ok or should find a better reel wth more drag

Setting drag for frogs.
So I’m finally getting dedicated rod and reel for frogging. I have the rod and I been using a lews speed spool reel. It has only 10 pounds of drag. I had it locked down all the way today and when I set the hook a tiny bit of drag slipped. I’m wondering if that is alright for frogging so you don’t rip it out of its face. Or do you want it locked down tight so no drag slips? Wondering how much drag you want when hollow body frogging. I am using it around dense lily pads and matted grass. And what reel is good for frogging if this isn’t suggested, anything 150$ and under please

Which do you use more: Baitcasting or Spinning?
Casting 99% of the time unless I’m with the fiancé using worms.. other than that cast , cast, cast.

Month long carp spawn
Yeah that happens every year here in NY. The carp just go around smelling all up on each other and swimming around splashing on top. I get startled sometimes as they come right up to me in my canoe and splash everywhere. Nothing you can do... try fishing for them they fight hard. Bread works good

FROG Rod help
Awesome! Can’t wait. I have been using that horrible MH rod and it just wasn’t cuttin it. Couldn’t turn heads fast enough. I love frogging

FROG Rod help
Awesome thank you. I guess I’m going with the Irod. Now it says it’s H Rod but moderate fast. Does that hinder anything? I’ll be fishing heavy lily pads and slop. I don’t do tons of open water but a little. Will the moderate fast not be able to pull fish out fast enough ?

FROG Rod help
Yeah I see those now. Thanks. I think I might go with the irod genesis or Dobyns fury

FROG Rod help

FROG Rod help
So I have been using a 7 ft MH F for frogging and it just isn’t cutting it. It’s some brand of rod I never heard of (hurricane redbone) and the butt end is short so I can’t get good leverage and the Mh isn’t working with all the weeds. I fish out of a canoe so I need something strong and with a longer Butt end to help get leverage on Hookset. Can anyone help steer s guy in the right direction for a frogging stick. Price range is around 130-150$

Why do you fish for bass?
It’s fun and exciting , the adrenaline pump when you get a huge hawg on the other line. It’s relaxing to get out on the water at 5 am , before anyone is out, before the animals wake up, before the day starts and just watch the sunrise. It’s easier to target bass than other species for me and bc it’s what my fiancé’s brkther got me into. He is a huge huge fisherman and now he is fighting for his life with leukemia so I fish for him

Megabass dark sleeper ??
Was wondering if anyone would comment. I was getting worried nobody had ever used them. I fish on Lake Erie up until about July and they feed on gobies an such and hoped maybe this would be good. Glad to hear largemouth like it also. Are they worth the price ??

Megabass dark sleeper ??
Has anyone ever used these?? I keep seeing them pop up in ads and online. They look really good but sometimes lures catch fisherman not fish. Wondering if anyone has had luck with these ? Specially on smallmouth

Frustrated New Member in Nevada
I’ll agree with everyone on finding a new place to fish. Also try a Texas rigged senko, that bait has never failed to at least catch one on every outing. I use black n blue or green pumpkin. Rig it weightless and let it fall slowly and drag it back by little hops at a time

First frog fish and a decent fish
Thank you ! An yeah I’ll have to tie directly to the frog next time. I was kind of junk fishing so I threw that on to see if I could get one and guess I did something right.

Topwater question ...
Thank you @Sam and @NHBull for the help. I can’t wait to get out. And the reel ess, the water temps today were 64 -65 degrees and getting warmer so I’m hoping it’s good fishing. Probably going to head out around 5 am so pics will be posted! Me do you guys recommend like a walking bait or popper? Or I have whopper plopper and buzz baits.

Topwater question ...
So it’s probably a dumb question but do bass hit topwater during the spawn? I know pre or post they can but when they are actuslly on beds would they hit a topwater early in the morning? The smallmouth are in full spawn in Lake Erie where I’m at and I never caught smallies on top before so wanted to try. They are pretty much all on beds at this time and I hAve been catching them with senkos and such throwing in the beds but would they leave if a walking bait was overhead to strike it? Or any topwater.

First frog fish and a decent fish
Yeah I tried and tried last year with no success but I think it was the wrong time and place. I’m slowing figuring out the frog bite

First frog fish and a decent fish
Sooo I have been going out as much as I can 2-3 times a week but haven’t had many good results. Been catching lots of small ones but nothing picture worthy. Finslly decided to try something new since I was getting lots of bites and finally caught my first frog fish!! I wanna keep learning how to use this and when but it was super exciting to watch them hammer it.. and seeing how we had overcast skies I brought out the buzzbait , I saw it to under , no huge explosion no big vacuum just a little tug. I thought it was a dink so I set the hook and started to reel.. well it wasn’t no dink! Drag started pulling and I finally got a decent fish little under 5 pounds but very pretty fish
