  1. For 1/2 oz jig I use the normal sized D bomb, the baby I think is to small actuslly and doesn’t hang out the skirt as much and show off those flappers
  2. That is a lipless crankbait , kind of like a Rat L Trap and it works very well. Caught my biggest smallmouth on a lipless crankbait , you can just cast out and reel it straight in or cast out and hop it along and rip it out of weeds for reaction strikes
  3. I have tried the booyah both pooper and not, bully wa, snag proof , spro and livetarget and I have to say the livetarget is my favorites. If you compare them all the livetarget is by far the softest and collapses so much easier than the rest. Use the black, emerald brown, and pure white only. Love frog foshing the best out of any top water. I throw them all day and night !
  4. He should be fine, I’m sure if it was that big it’s also used to crazy stuff being able to live that long, always have phone or scale ready like everyone said. And I’m sure they appreciate a nice dip in the water while your getting everything .. I had one yesterday I swear was staring at me with the most evil intent ... he was plotting his revenge !
  5. I’m going to have to say beaver also, I can’t count how many times I have been fishing early morning before sunrise and almost had a heart attack to a beaver slapping its tail 10 feet from me. Sounds like a truck hitting the water
  6. I’m kind of the same way, I dont like to see anyone now take bass and kill them or any fish honestly but if it’s for food then I understands as Long as it’s legal. One of my favorite places to fish has a lot of Amish folk come and they take any fish and size and it upsets me. Or this older man Just last week I had to talk to. He was taking bass anywhere from 9 inches to 15 .. And he had 7 in a bucket. The legal limit starts at 15 ! Mind you if this was a huge body of water I wouldn’t care as much but this is a 50 acre lake.. taking so many fish can harm it.
  7. Nice those are still some good fish
  8. Thank you everyone !
  9. Ouch that looks painful, I almost got a handful of trebles mutiple times, whenever I use treble hooks now I always use the boga grips to secure the fish .. glad he is ok.. hope it was at least a big northern lol
  10. So today is my birthday and I got the best suprise ever. Some of you may know, my brother in law was diagnosed with leukemia back in February so he has been getting help from my wife for the past few months. She had to move out to help take care of him so I didn’t think she would be around for my birthday as she’s cant leave him alone. So today I wake up and of course go fishing. Caught a nice birthday bass on a frog , exactly 6 pounds the scale read so that was exciting. But it gets better, little do I know my wife had a suprise for me! She had her mom come up to watch her brother and she came down to lake I fish and suprised me !! She even brought new lures , jigs, topwater , soft plastics etc. that was the best present I could ask for ! So we get to spend the day together and get to fish!! Also got my new rod which is amazing , all in all this was the best birthday ever. Probably going to fish later to ?

Seeing as I caught my Pb of 7 pounds this year on a frog.. I would say frog
  12. So I haven’t gotten to use the rod yet but I haven’t found any reviews on the new 6th sense rods so I figured I would break it down in depth of what I just received. I got the 7 ft 5 Heavy moderate fast rod. Got it straight from the website. Called and talk to one of people at 6th sense and they seem nice and friendly about everything. It’s a nice looking rod out of the package , all black and silver look to it. feels pretty light, little heavier than say the Irod magic stick I got but it’s pretty close. Balances very nice from tip to end. The action I think is spot on with moderate fast. The guides are “medium micro” I would say. It loads up nice as I was casting it in the front yard this morning. I like the foam handle handle it would help when getting wet from slipping on hard hook sets. The rod is very parabolic and when setting a hook it feels like it would use all the backbone to drive the hook in vs some rods just using the tip with little actual backbone setting power. I will Be out tomorrow morning to test it on the Water, more to come. The daiwa 150 HS feels amazin. As well. It has the spider on the top and side knob. It also is black and silver , it casts like a dream. Didn’t get much chance to use it on the water yet so also more to come.
  13. Congrats! And welcome aboard.

    Hello! And welcome
  15. Yeah I agree for the most part. I wanna find a select couple company’s that have good rods to choose. I really like the IROD genesis 2. I have the magic stick and it’s amazing. But they don’t have a rod I’m looking for. Need a heavy moderate fast for flipping heavier cover as my other rod is kind of old and broke. I know irod makes a 7 5 heavy moderate but not mod fast. So I think I’ll pull the trigger on a lux rod. Like I said if I get it and feels off I’ll return it.
  16. I might do it and see, can always be return it I guess.. ill keep ya updated if I do
  17. Thanks , I see one person liked it but was hoping more reviews. Not much even using a google search.. wonder why
  18. I don’t think it makes you a better angler. A lot of people can’t afford a boat at the time but I think having a boat makes the lake more accessible. More opportunities than a shore fisherman.
  19. I have had lots of blowups in the middle of the day. From around 12 -6 pm the sun is up high so the bass need some shade , lily pads make amazing shade. You throw a frog threw that and just let it sit in the open water and hang on.
  20. So I have a lot of 6th sense lures and I love them, very good craftsmanship , comes with good hooks and everything. They work really well and come in every color I need. I just find them to be very good quality baits but I’m wondering about the new lux rods? Has anyone ever used them or have any reviews on them. Haven’t seen to much about them any feedback would be nice. Thank you
  21. Sorry for your loss and the loss of all his family and friends , prayers for him. My brother in law is fighting now against leukemia it’s a hard long battle.
  22. THank you everyone! I think I have it narrowed down to berkley , mans jelly worm, and zoom ol monster. Probbsly eill gesb couple of each cant wait to use them and see if I can catch some decent fish
  23. Thanks everyone for the input ! Appreciate it
  24. I’m looking to try big worms for the first time. I also want to try fishing at night as the lake has been insanely pressured lately with fisherman and pleasure boaters, looking for a worm I can use at night and during the days for those big bites. Anything 9 inches to probbsly 12 would be nice. I do have one pack of black zoom ol monster but looking for other choices. Thank you
  25. I fish alone 90% of the time and I prefer it that way honestly , the only time I am with someone is if my fiancé comes , her brother who is who got me into fishing again or once a month my friend nick comes. I enjoy the alone time honestly it’s my happy place, away from work, away from people, away from everything noisy. I love fishing before the sun comes up bc it’s peaceful and you get to watch the “world” wake up. It’s nice.
