Matching rods and line for different techniques
Okay I tried using 15lb braid one time and it kept slipping. Someone was telling me to use a backing.. What is that, how do i do it? Also how long of a leader for general use

Matching rods and line for different techniques
Hi guys. I have a kvd quatnam rod 6'10 medium heavy idk what the action is but if I wack the rod the tip moves around with a lot of flex. I need new line after a back lash from getting stuck in the tree. I really only like to use the baits I'm confident in, I'll branch out later but I prefer to stick with senkos Texas rigged or wacky (even though I never caught one on them) top water and crankbaits.. my question is what is the line i should use for crankbaits and soft plastics, I am confident in my knots and are fine using leaders. I'll use top water on my spinning set up. What line and lb test can I use for crankbaits and soft plastics and that will work for me. The max line rating is 17 pounds

Choosing lures
I got my mtb pro box today and received a swimbait, popper, frog, topwater, and a couple other things. My question is when do I choose what to throw. It's fall in Texas and I'll be fishing In the morning and evening and can't decide when to throw what lures. I need help making a choice on what to use while I'm out there. For the most part the water is clear/ murky and I throw dark for dark water and bright for clear. I can't ever decide what to use. I haven't caught a bass in a while and kinda getting upset about it. Thanks for the help

Somewhat new to bass fishing
I try weightless t-rig and wacky sometimes weighted t-rig but usually have no luck. I throw it and let it sink then pull up and reel half way then let it it the bottom for a couple Also it's mid Texas waters so some muddy some clear. Depends on rain and where I'm fishing. I throw green with red flakes and pumpkin and green with black flake senkos Edit: like I said I'm somewhat new to bass fishing. I can go out and fish and catch em sometimes and I'm pretty well knowledged about fishing in general but i get confused on bass specifically

Somewhat new to bass fishing
Hi guys I'm new to the forums but have been reading them for a while now. I've been fishing since I was 6 but it was always on a Wal-Mart rod with hotdog on the end and getting crappie. Now that I'm older and can afford my own stuff I bought a ugly stik combo like 4 months ago and it's good but it just doesn't work. I've been researching and I would like to probably get a pflueger president and berkley lightning rod. I went fishing every other week the whole summer and didn't catch a bass at all. I went in morning and evening and I can't seem to catch fish. With the rod and reel I'm getting, what line do you think I should get. P.s. I try using senkos but what's the best rig for y'all
