Hello, I am new to this site, and I am an avid pond fisher dude. You might want to consider these things ...
Always throw ahead of the direction you are travelling when fishing ponds! This will get you more strikes than ever. I have had good success fishing in a "rainbow" pattern. Pond Bass are very sensitive to movement on the shore line... So, avoid stepping on branches and setting your tackle box down really hard. If fishing with another chump, make sure he's not "wasting your area" so to speak by stomping around ahead of you.
I have pond fished the last fifteen years without a boat and have had much success without one.
The best all-around "consistent" lure has been (believe it or not) a Mepps #5 Gold spinner with the yellow/red tail. Go figure! I started using this as a back-up lure after my brother turned me on to it. But, then I was catching large amounts of varied fish, even huge Bass! You can find Mepps at any Wal-Mart. The #5 gives me the exact weight for proper distance.. Flutter or vibration it makes in the water.. Great color ... a very sharp treble hook that's hidden and easily sets in the mouth .. AND .. Best of all ... you don't have to be a Pro to rig it! It's all set-up and ready to go.
Sometimes when the Mepps hits the water just right ... it makes a "smack" sound that drives the bigger Bass wild!
Just make sure you carry more than one of these deadly weapons along, you will kick yourself if you lose one and don't have back-up when they are striking.
Have fun!
