  1. I'm fairly new to bass fishing, this is my second forum on this site. I have 2 bass setups that I'm going to be using. The first is a Pflueger Purist baitcasting reel with a Fenwick Silverhawk 2 rod, 6'6" and Medium power. My other setup is a Pflueger President 6935 spinning reel on an Ugly Stik GX2 spinning rod, 6'6" medium power. Probably not the best or most perfect setups but they are what I will be using for the time being and within my budget. I'm curious as to what would be the best line to use. I've heard it depends on the fishing conditions, location, and type of lure you will be using, etc. Right now I have 12# Spiderwire Ultimate Mono on the baitcasting setup. Nothing is on the President setup right now. I'm trying to research it before deciding what to line it up with. Is there a good "all-around" line to use that would be good for someone that is always changing the type of lure that they use and trying different things? I have always been a big fan of Spiderwire Stealth braid. That is what I always use for trout, bluegill, and crappie. Thanks in advance.
  2. I'm new to this website so bare with me. I mention brand names I prefer below so if that is in violation of the marketing policy, I apologize. I have a setup that I'm trying to determine whether or not can be used for both trout and smallies. I have a Pflueger President 6930 on a 6'6" Ugly Stik crappie rod with 6lb Spiderwire Stealth braid line. I can't recall off the top of my head if the rod is Light or Medium Light. Though I don't think the rod is ideal for crappie, I have used the setup multiple times for trout and it is perfect. I'm wanting to take it out for smallies in the river near my house but haven't made it out yet. Does this setup seem to be ideal for it, or should I go with a heavier/larger setup for smallies? I'm not completely new to fishing, but I've never got into the specifics of my tackle and been really picky about what reel/rod/line I used. I always more or less just guessed. I have always been faithful to Ugly Stik rods though because they are durable, dependable and affordable for me so that is what I stuck with. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
