I'm looking at picking up a couple new Shimano SLX baitcasters and rods. I see the combos available for around $129-149 while of purchased separately the rod and reels each go for $99. Is the equipment different if purchased separately vs the combos?

I haven't found anything for my generation of Mustang. Admittedly, I haven't looked super hard.

Like the title says, I don't have a vehicle that I can strap a kayak to. So, I've been thinking about belly boats (I guess they're called float tubes now) a lot lately. It seems like it would be a great solution for me. But, I'm curious if anyone has any experience transporting one in the trunk of a car. I know they deflate/fold up. But, how compact are they? The Mustang is definitely not known for hauling capacity. I've been looking at the ODC 420. But, have also seen good reviews on Fat Cats as well as a couple others. It would be used exclusively on a couple small ponds that i frequent. Definitely not taking it out on any big lakes. I'd love to hear about your experiences.

I had a very similar experience when I was out fishing with a buddy of mine. I was casting my Rat L Trap and some how the wind caught it just right. It flew for what seemed like miles, landed on top of a row of boat slips, and got stuck on the metal roof. I tried tugging and twitching from every possible angle with no luck. After a few fruitful minutes, i give it one last pull figuring it would either come lose or I would break the line. I did not break the line... that thing came off of that roof like a rocket and hit me right in the family jewels. Luckily i was wearing some lose fitting shorts and was able to unhook it pretty easily. But, we both had a good laugh.
