    Thanks for the suggestions guys. i will try three brakes per spool first.

    You guys cracked me up, lol. I just ordered an extra spool for my Shimano 300 EJ reel (sea perch reel) to load extra lines for backup but i forgot to order 6 extra brakes for it. And i don't want to pay another $7 shipping. That's why i want to see if i pull off a couple brakes would sacrifice the casting distance or not. I am currently using 2 brakes. Maybe i will try to see if in can use it without any brakes on it.
