  1. Really? It was ~20 inches (measured with shoes) Oh well. Guess I need to catch bigger fish to compare
  2. https://ibb.co/mCmTce https://ibb.co/kofAqz https://ibb.co/bxoKiK Weight on this fish? Very long, yet skinny. (Check out the bucketmouth!)
  3. Yes, I was mainly thinking weightless/light drop shotting. The lightest finesse style
  4. I saw that, I just thought the sensitivity may be worse than the GLX.
  5. I was thinking about the GLX 852C JWR. It's a nice light rod.
  6. I was considering once black friday came around getting the new Aldebaren to make an ultra-finesse combo. What is the lowest practical weight that could be thrown? I know its rated down to a quater of an ounce, just wondering what the specs are compared to the actual functionality of the reel. Anything else that would persuade me to buy it would be helpful. ? Thanks!
  7. Thanks everyone!
  8. Not sponsored. Shimano owns G Loomis so they also give discounts on them, Jackall, and PowerPro
  9. So as a member of Shimano's varsity program, I can get rods half off. They do this to put the stuff within high school angler's reach. My only proplem is that a $200 GLX is still a big reach, considering I work part time at minimum wage. Can someone tell me what their opinions are of each rod? I know I will be told to get whatever I can afford, but I'd like to know if it would be worth it to spend the extra $40. I also know that I am no pro fisherman and that there isn't any point to buying expensive things at my age, but I work pretty hard and would like to splurge myself. Thanks.
  10. wow... that's amazing. I just shot him an email to ask about prices. Thanks!
  11. Thank you. The fault can only be my own since I caught it. I think I should've fizzed it, but didn't have the equipment. Again, nobody's fault but my own. Nothing I can do to change that, but going forward I will always have the stuff needed and make sure to keep it in water as much as possible.
  12. That's exactly what I did. Sadly the fish was too stressed out and didn't make it, but I figured it'd be better to release it anyways on the miracle it would make it, or at least return the nutrients to the foodchain. I have some pictures to use for a replica.
  13. Lol I'd love winnings, but this is a youth program where a bunch of guys who know what they're doing take a bunch of dumb kids and show them everything they do wrong ? the sad part was this wasn't even the big fish. Someone caught a 6 lb largie (massive for ct)
  14. Would you consider the fish I posted about (I added a picture) to be a mount worthy fish? Obviously this is different to everyone, I just want to make sure if I spend a lot of money it'll be worth it. Again, I know everyone has different standards. Just wondering yours. Wouldn't mind it ? don't worry I get the idea. Go big or go home. Now for mowing lawns for a couple of months...
  15. Just shy of 21" I had to crop out my head because, naturally, I was making a weird face. It's hard to scale, but I promise it was a big girl
  16. I was thinking about getting a smallmouth mount. I need a rather cheap mount, and a taxidermist who can go off pictures. Any recommendations?
  17. Hello! I just got back from a youth tournament at Candlewood Lake in CT. I caught a smallie just shy of 5 lbs. I know for many of you that isn't a giant, but I've put so much work into my tournaments with poor results, so I'm pretty proud of it. Pictures will come shortly.
  18. Thanks! I wasn't sure if that'd be too shallow. Do you know any vague spots? I don't have a fish finder and have no clue where to go.
  19. Hello! I am heading up to Newfound Lake tomorrow and staying at a house on the lake. My dad said we could rent some kayaks up there on the northern part of the lake. I figured topwater in morning and dropshot during the day. Anyone have info on where to go in the northern section? I just wasn't sure how deep and where to go. Thanks for any info.
  20. Thank you all for your advice. I think I knew that would be the logical thing to do, but I was hoping someone would tell me to buy one Oh well
  21. I sadly think you're right. But I can hope an awesome deal comes along!
  22. Yes, yes, yes, possibly (applying to a good job)
  23. Me too. Been begging my parents for a loan, but surprising they don't want me to take 3k out of my college fund. Why would that ever be?
  24. Hello! I am in high school and really, really want a bass boat. Unfortunately, my wallet shows the fact that I am a high schooler. Does anyone know of any bass boats that are very very very cheap? Yes, I know that I should wait, but after losing tons of baits to trees, dozens of ticks, etc + the fact that I want to compete in tournies, I have decided to take the plunge (hopefully).
  25. If I could get one, I would in a heart beat but $70 out of my price range.
