  1. I love listening to nature and the sounds but occasionally I'll bring a little radio and turn it down low and play music and fish! I caught a 7 lb'er out of my two man last year listening to a cd! I think it liked the music cause it "danced" by the edge of my boat when I pulled it up! I usually only listen if I'm fishing by myself--don't want spook somebody else's fish too!
  2. Thanks for the advice guys. I went this morning and caught two from the back of the boat with three guys fishing. Two was the record today as we mostly trolled and marked spots for an upcoming tourney--they're going to pre-fish next weekend. The two guys fishing with me are partners for the tournament and we were all just trying to throw different search lures. I think I actually turned them on to my idea. I threw right behind their crankbaits with a spinnerbait and I caught the first two--a 3 lb'er and a chunky 1.5. They both switched to a spinnerbait and in no time the guy in the middle was throwing the same color as me and caught a nice 3 lb'er. We didn't fish long but I think I might have given them an idea for the tourney! I decided to try something different and I paid off. Now, as for the weedlines....
  3. What are your favorite tactics for fishing from the back? How about if your partner's on a tear from the front of the boat, one after another, and he does this by pitching and flipping EVERY SINGLE hole in the weedline. Not complaining, I'm just glad to be there, but how do I catch fish? I either cast back out towards the lake and reel in like I was fishing from the bank or cast to the rear and it's almost like trolling. Or do I use a different color tube or jig and fish the same holes right behind him. And trust me, he doesn't miss a hole! I am learning a lot though. Can't wait till I get my own boat so I can be in front sometime!
  4. Fishing for crappie below the dam here a while back and caught a 10lb+ gar on 4 lb test. Took me about 15 minutes to reel him in and I had to constantly tweak my drag. He was hooked in the side. Not a prize fish-here anyway-but fun as heck! I also figured out why there weren't any crappie still in that spot!
  5. I plan on mounting my transducer on my trolling motor that will be mounted on the front or back of my two man boat depending on wether or not someone is with me. My question is: does mounting this way always lead to interference and is one end better than the other for motor/transducer positioning. I would think the front would create less interference but I don't know. Any suggestions?
  6. I ended up buying a Humminbird Matrix 25 from Cabela's for $159 + S&H. I think that's a good deal--I did some shopping. I might try to mount the transducer to the trolling motor but am afraid I would knock it off. My trolling moter hits the bottom sometimes when I'm shallow. I mounted my last one on the rear but was always having trouble with the angle of the transducer staying perpendicular to the ground. Thanks for your help.
  7. My X51 did the same thing.
  8. So where do you mount your transducer?
  9. I'm getting another fish finder for my two-man. Any recommendations? I look to spend $150-$200. I was thinking about a portable one such as the Humminbird 535 portable. I just don't know if the suction cup transducer will stick to my plastic hull! Regardless of the sonar--where is a good place to mount the transducer? I use my trolling motor on the rear of the boat. Or what is a good way to mount a transducer to the trolling motor? Any help is appreciated.
