  1. Does anybody have any experience with fishing the upper new river for walleye? I’m looking and reading online and trying to plan a trip to wade either foster falls or below Bucks dam. Any information or tips about wading in those areas would be awesome. Thanks!
  2. I’m back on the hunt for chain pickerel. If anybody knows of any small bodies of water that have some please feel free to share. I know Lake Moomaw and douthat state park have them but I’m looking for places that are more bank fishing friendly. Thanks!
  3. During the spring and summer months I tend to use a lot of crawdad like lures, mostly tubes and jigs. I guess my real question is trying to figure out the pattern of fall smallies.
  4. Any tips or info for tracking smallies this time of year? The water is starting to cool down and a lot of people are putting up their rods.
  5. Does anybody have any idea where there could be some chain pickerel in the Roanoke area?
  6. Joe fly spinners are always good. Powerbait trout dough is also a decent bait.
  7. I’ll have to check that place out sometime. Is the fishing any good?
  8. What is the Midloathian mines pond? I also went out for a little bit earlier and fished from the bank near the 14th street bridge but didn’t get on any shad.
  9. I’m a big fan of bed fishing if the fish are safely released back to the bed!
  10. Well shoot guys. I saw the blooms and just assumed. Thanks for the info though!
  11. I was just walking back from class and noticed a few dogwoods that are already blooming. Could the spawn be starting this early??
  12. Thanks for all the responses! A little bit of background on me. I’m a senior at VCU currently and I’m an avid fisherman for any freshwater fish that will bite. Lately I’ve been trying to find places close by that have chain pickerel of any size just to catch and release some. My favorite type of bass to catch are smallmouth but like I said I love to fish for anything and everything. Thanks again for all the feedback, I’m hoping that I’ll be able to get on some pickerel soon!
  13. Hey thanks guys! I’m currently working a night shift so my reply for now is short. I’ll introduce myself more tomorrow!
  14. Does anybody know of any ponds or streams near Richmond that have chain pickerel? I know swift creek resivoir has some but I don’t have a boat so I won’t have any access. Anything helps!
