  1. Ah yes, the rivers are lots of fun. Lost a red fishing the York about two years ago. One of the most frustrating things that's happened to me while fishing. I've managed to catch a striper there though. Never short of croaker too. Lots of fun for sure. I guess I was being a little too technical haha. Bad habit of mine. I just had a bad experience with the body of a reel flexing on me once. Then again that was a pretty cheap Bass Pro reel. Daiwa and Shimano however have been good to me. Always more than suitable as you've mentioned.
  2. Did I say something? A little lost. Sorry if I said something

  4. Thanks Bob. I appreciate it. Really looking to catch my first redfish this year. Can't remember how long I've been trying to catch one.
  5. As a newbie to the forum, all this help is really encouraging. I really appreciate all the insight. I definitely agree about the Daiwa/Shimano reliability. I have a Tatula and I really like it, strong reel. The Sales BG looks really tempting. However, Shimano does make a solid reel. I've had a Sienna for at least 3 years and counting and it's been everywhere. Caught stuff in fresh and salt. Thanks again, cheers!
  6. Appreciate the tips guys. I was able to get out on Sunday but only managed some small crappie. It seems like all the big fish, crappie and bass, are waiting just a while longer. I'll keep my eyes on the trees then.
  7. Hey all, Weather in Virginia has been all over. Has been hard to tell how far along the bass are as far as the pre-spawn goes. In my estimation, many fish are still holding to winter patterns, no? Anyway, from what you all have seen would y'all say we are closer to the beginning or the end of the pre-spawn? Thanks and cheers!
  8. Ah yes, I should have specified the price range. Below $100 is good. Below $75 is ideal. Thanks for the reply boomstick.
  9. Hey all, Was looking to finally get a spinning rod for finesse fishing. Really just looking for something that can toss some lighter lures. I tend to fish spots with fish that run 3lbs and larger so a good reel is a must; however, I'm not looking to get a Stella though haha. Used a Shimano Sienna for years, and that's been great. However, I wonder if they still make them like they used to. Anything below $100 is good. Anything below $75 is great. Really, anything durable and with minimal flexing in the body of the reel will do. Might also be worth mentioning I plan on using it for the occasional redfish and flounder. Thanks for any recommendations. Cheers!
