Spike it questions
Hey all, I know this might sound silly but the instructions arnt very thorough. I’ve got some spike it dip n glo chartreuse garlic. Is this something that needs to be applied right before I starting fishing with it? Or is this something I can use on a few plastics the night before and still get the same results? I don’t know much about soft plastics nor have I ever modified them before so I wasn’t to sure what the correct process is.

Can’t seem to cast shad rap #5
I’ve been reading up on the upsizing the hooks it seems upping the front one to a #4 helps with casting but also makes it neutral bouyant and rise slow. Is this something that is good in all conditions or just in the context of winter conditions like I was reading about? Apprently this is something that’s done on most of the shad raps not just the #5

Can’t seem to cast shad rap #5
It’s rated for a 1/8 to 1/2 oz. idk I guess I was just expecting it to be a smooth cast and be able to get it out there a ways. Instead it kinda casts and then mid flight just kinda loses momentum and wobbles down. I can’t even really feel the wobble of the lure till it gets pretty close to me. I’ve never fished anything this light before so maybe my expectations arnt realistic.

Can’t seem to cast shad rap #5
I was also thinking would going up on one of the hook sizes on the #5 work? I am probably still going to get a #7 but I’d like to somehow make the #5 work still.

Very lightweight pants?
Anyone got a line on any of these lightweight fishing pants in larger sizes like size 48+ ? I looked at the columbia pairs and most stop at around 44

Buff questions.
I will have to play around with it, and also maybe invest in some anti fog.

Can’t seem to cast shad rap #5
I went ahead and took the general consensus advice. I ended up with a president 25 w/ 8# seaguar red label flouro. Exactly how far should I be able to cast this #5 shad rap? I was kinda disappointed I could only get it out there like 20-25 yards. Idk if it’s me or maybe my rod is too stiff or what. Its labeled as M/F. Later the wind picked up and I just switched to something else I’m going to guess you can cast this thing with wind no matter that rod you use?

Any use a white zombie rat l trap?
Could y’all give me some tips on conditions? I’m fishing a super clear little lake. It’s shallow-ish around the bank but then gets really deep. It used to be a sand pit. Also... I got a shad pattern but I got it in 3/4oz magnum (didn’t know it was different). It’s pretty massive compared to a 1/2 oz. Is this something that will catch bass or should I exchange it for the 1/2 version? Or maybe even a smaller/or different one.

Buff questions.
Hey all, So I’ve never worn a buff before, but I got one none the less. It’s an under armour brand. It’s labeled as a neck gaiter not sure if that matters. However I noticed when I pull it up to cover my entire face (over my nose) my sunglasses constantly fog up. Is this just a price of wearing a buff? Or do I need a better one or different sunglasses?

Can’t seem to cast shad rap #5
Thanks for all the advice guys I appreciate it. I think for now I am just going to pick up probably an abu spinning reel something in the $50 dollar range(probably a pro max 20). Ive got a 2pc spinning rod that I used to use for salt water (till i discovered it was not a salt water rod lol) It is 7ft Medium action with a Fast tip. Should do the job for now. Ill probably end up going with 8 lb mono like pline or something. Once I am not such a noobie at catching bass I will upgrade my spinning rod/reel and line.

Can’t seem to cast shad rap #5
Any suggestions on the rod? I assume my spheros 4K is an okay enough reel for this set up?

Can’t seem to cast shad rap #5
Rod: Daiwa Alexa 6’5 MH Xtra fast Reel: Kastking Assassin Line: 15lb Pline CXX Ive got my brakes turned on to 4 inside and 7 outside. I can not for the life of me cast this thing without a backlash or far enough on the few times I don’t. I’ve watched a dozen videos on how to but just can’t seem to get it. I’m giving it more line than normal to load the rod more on start up. Still mid flight my spool overruns. What throws me is I can cast a weightless trig super fluke which I know is a little heavier but I can cast it decently with little to no backlash. Any advice or tips here? I even tried it on a spinning rod/reel but it just dead stops after 10-15 ft. (I’m thinking I spooled the reel wrong or maybe the reel itself is off it’s a Shimano spheros 4K)

When to switch to a CB or SB
Are you referring to the walking minnow? I was unable to find the #11 jointed in fire tiger on tackle warehouse

When to switch to a CB or SB
Awesome I’ll give it a try in the early morning I hear them hitting the top of the water a good bit. I’ve tried a Black spro frog but I’m just to new to really work it properly to get results. I was thinking of getting a Livingston lures walking boss or popper the ones with the sounds in them. Also entertaining the idea of a black 110 silent whopper plopper. Any advice or suggestions for top water? I’ll try to switch it up. I just wanted bites lol so I keep throwing the plastics even though I wanted to try faster baits. I gotta wake up real early to get in an hour or two before work. So I need them bites lol.

When to switch to a CB or SB
I see a lot of insects and the guy that works the park says the bait fish are yellow perch and possibly brill. So I would want something with a touch of yellow in it?

When to switch to a CB or SB
Cool I’ll try the SB when it’s windy. That was as a struggle I was having maybe the SB will be my wind counter lol

When to switch to a CB or SB
So I fish off the bank in a very clear water local pond. It’s fairly deep used to be a sand pit till they hit a natural spring and it filled up with water. I think it’s like 15 - 18 feet down. The ledges off the bank don’t go to far out before dropping off. Ive been having some luck with a zoom green pumpkin fluke or baby brush hog around vegetation and stuff. I’m just wondering what conditions should I be looking for weather wise or maybe time a day. To switch to my spinner bait or crank bait. I’ve got a black/white shad rap #5 and a white/chart double willow spinner bait.

More tackle or new Rod/Reel?
Hey All, I am getting some extra money as a graduation present. I’m wanting to get some feedback on how to invest it in bass fishing. I’m still pretty new just fishing from the banks at local ponds and stuff. I’ve got some basic tackle, a frog, a spinnerbait, a crankbait, and some soft plastics and terminal tackle. I’ve got a little 6’5 MH rod and a KK assassin. I’m guessing it’ll be close to $250-300 so with that I have some options. Just wondering what is more important to focus on when you are just starting out. Getting more tackle or acquiring more rods/reels for different techniques.

Knot questions
I’ve got the double improved clinch knot down pretty well. Is there any application where that knot wouldn’t work? In the mean time I’ll practice the Palomar and the uni.

Knot questions
Hey all, So I am curious and would like to get some reasoning behind different knots and there applications. Just starting out in bass fishing its kind of intimidating there are hundreds of different knots to tie, different ones for different lines, or lures, or techniques. Now I understand some techniques require certain knots in order to get the presentation right( i.e. a certain knot on a drop shot rig so that the hook sits straight out. ). It seems every video I watch I hear palomar is the knot that everyone ties on 90% of things. I get that to a certain extent that is personal preference. I would really like to know the logic behind certain knots logic that goes beyond just the strength of the knot. Why should someone be tying certain knots or not tying them across different applications. Why is the palomar knot so heavily utilized? I just learned the double improved clinch knot, is there a reason that knot cant be used on all lines for all basic applications? I heard loop knots on braid is a bad idea, why? Loop knots in general, give certain baits more freedom when working them, is that just a personal preference or are those lures designed to be used with a loop knot? What about the uni knot? why is the palomar mentioned so much more than the uni? I know my questions are all over the place. However I am really just trying to get a better understanding of certain knots as I imagine certain knots might change the look of the lure presentation.

New Baitcaster advice
I was in the same boat as you. After reading a lot of reviews on here and feedback across websites I went with the KastKing Assassin. I have not had a chance to use it just yet it arrived yesterday. *** has a reel that looks interesting the Origin A its 79.99 from there website. I have heard good things about there reels also.
