  1. Thanks to all. I'll give it a try. I actually bumped up the line size to 12 flouro and it seemed to cast much easier with a 3/8 drop shot weight. I also bumped up the internal braking as well to help with the backlashing. For a few minutes I fan casted and pitched in my backyard and it's seems to be much better. Didn't really get to launch anything in my neighborhood but do plan to hit the waters this weekend so hopefully it performs better.
  2. Yes sir. Their delivery times are pretty consistent as well. If I have a big enough order, just go home a little early and my packages are soon to come.
  3. I hear ya on this. I use the Easy Shiners and they're terrible. 1 or 2 bites and they're done. But the bright side, they just simply catch and work.
  4. I always like to support my local family owned shops. We have only 1 in our town and unfortunately their inventory is low and limited in some items. I turn to Tacklewarehouse 99.9% of the time as I'm in California. Overnight shipping if you get your orders in by 12pm and order over $50. It's terrible as the internet is everywhere and I know I can have my stuff by the next day. Packages sometimes arrive 2-3 times a week!
  5. I've moved from texas rigged 6in worms, to texas rigged senkos, to wacky rigged senkos, to 4in Keitech easy shiners, and now to drop shot. Of all things, drop shot! A lot of folks say that drop shot is a novice technique for small fish. While most would be correct, they are also incorrect. Novice or pro, drop shot can be killer. When the bite is tough, I always have a drop shot rigged ready to go.
  6. 10lb or 12lb flouro seems to work great for me. Sunline Sniper or PLine Tactical have been pretty good to me, although they're a bit pricey. I'm leaning more towards the Pline Tactical as I've noticed some abrasion issues with the Sunline Sniper.
  7. It's the 51HG with white brakes. You could be right about the reel being the issue. But there aren't any odd sounds, feeling, or play in any of the parts. I may re-spool it with heavier line and slip it onto another rod and test it out that way.
  8. I have a Dobyns Sierra 702 paired with a Stradic ci4 3000. The combo works great for me. It's the only spinning setup I have on the boat and the 7ft is just perfect right in the middle of lengths. The ci4 is of course very light so drop shotting and shakey head is easy on the wrist. I would how ever consider getting a second setup that's a 7'4 for longer casts in the future. You can probably pickup both brand new for under your expected budget.
  9. Hello folks of Bassresources. I've always Googled and read threads but have just joined the community. I have an issue some may be able to help to solve for me. I recently purchased a 7'2 Shimano Expride medium light rated up to 5/8. I paired it with a Shimano Aldebaran 51 spooled with 8lb flouro. While both products are really nice, I just can't seem to get this thing to cast anything decently. I purposely purchased this setup for finesse applications such as small plastic swim baits like the 4in Keitechs, weightless Senkos, and 1/4 texas rig worms. I've messed with all settings on the reel and cannot seem to cast anything more than 15-20 yards. Too little braking and I get birds nests. Too much and bait casts 10 yards. I feel like everything is either too light or too heavy for this rod combo. My Dobyns 733 seems to be better at this. Anyone think my line maybe too light? Any suggestions on brake settings? It's a beautiful setup but it's a useless setup on the waters if I can't get it dialed in.
