The flirt is my sons (10 yrs) "go to" lure. He has caught many a fish while Dad has blanked. :-[ He rigs it texas with a 1/16 ounce pegged bullet sinker and swims it along the bottom.

One of the main benefits I had when doing the switch from spinning to baitcasting is the ability to control the lure better and improve casting accuracy. I love throwing a crank through the pads - when the trebles snag on the stems, give it a good tug. The crank darts off in a different direction often iducing a reaction strike. Good luck AKA overwind king ;D

I fish a slow moving river with stained to muddy water. The river has an abundance of all types of cover, lilly pads, water hycinth, rip rap, submerged and semi submerged timber, boat docks, slipways and plenty of reeds. What I can never figure out though, is which type of structure is "on" that hour, day, week, month or year and spend a lot of time each session just trying to figure out where they are. My favourite structure is trees and enjoy either bouncing a crank, or flipping a T-rigged creature bait.

Hey nice fish Johan. I live at the Vaal River and fish it almost every week end as it is so close by. As I am sure you know a good size fish at the Vaal is about 1,5kg (3,3 lbs) as the LM are mainly Northern Strain although I have heard Florida strain fingerlings were introduced last year. Nice lunker - from one of the KZN dams?? Thanks to the board for a warm welcome.

Dag se Johan. I have been browsing this site and forums for a while now and the amount of info available is unbelievable. IMHO knocks the socks off anything we have. Where are you doing your fishing?
