Thank you all for the welcoming replies. Bluebasser86, a guide would be great, but I'm looking more to learn the way I would be fishing later. I imagine a lot of guides would be using a boat. Also, a guide will cost a lot more. Do you guys think fishermen would be interested in doing this type of "guiding"? Make some extra money renting out their gear and teaching people how to fish their local area? The most fun I have had fishing was in Biloxi Mississippi and Kanazawa Japan. In Japan, a local friend took me to a river to catch these tiny fish that tasted like watermelon (I think they're called Ayu). He showed me what to do and then left me with the gear to keep fishing. I would have payed money to have that experience. In Biloxi, I was there for training with the Air Force. I fished every week on the local piers. I had a lot of fun, but definitely would have payed a local to help me get better or to help me target specific fish (I wanted to catch more flounder). When I travel places, I often want to fish. but I don't want to pay quite as much as guides are charging. I would definitely pay a local to show me what to do and to use their gear for a while at a reasonable price.
Would any of you guys do this type of guiding? I feel like charging for your guided time and the rental time separately would allow you as the guide to keep making money without having to actually be there and for the customer to get a semi guided experience at a much lower cost. Plus you would be making money fishing!
Do you guys think I'm the only one that is wanting this type of service?
