  1. Just got my Antares 12 back from shimano(it gets a cleaning every year) and after a couple trips out my reel is super noisy. Casts silent and perfectly. It’s only noisy on the retrieve. If I take the spool out it’s not noisy, so I don’t know what’s going on. I don’t think it’s the gears or bearings( because I oiled both), so does anyone have any guesses?
  2. Ya I’m gonna mount my first 7
  3. I’d go with a Shimano slx combo(medium heavy 7ft). Put some 30lb powerpro on there( make sure to put mono or fluoro backing on first) and use a 12-14lb mono leader. You be able to do everything fairly well with that combo
  4. Supposed to be a comma in between way and DD
  5. Where’d you get the 8?
  6. 5 pound largemouth?
  7. I have mine at 7 I think
  8. Ya same here in ohio
  9. Sorry yes I meant to be mounted. I should have said that. Also not a skin mount
  10. Not at all the same topic
  11. Good input thanks No way Dd are caught everyday in the south I’ve caught a lot of 4s and one 5 last year. I’ve been fishing my whole life and have never seems a 6 pound lmb in Ohio. I’ve seen a good amount of 6 pound smallies(my pb is 4.56) from Erie tho Thanks I saw that but I feel like an avid bass angler the standards should be a little higher Very fair. I’m very proud of my 5.42 pounder in Ohio but I wouldn’t say it’s a trophy
  12. Ya I was thinking an Ohio 7 is an absolute trophy. Definitely more rare that a Florida, Cali, or Texas ten
  13. Most fisherman consider a ten pound lmb a trophy bass. However I live in Ohio where 10 pounders are nearly impossible to come by. So my question is what Ohio largemouth bass size is considered a 10 pounder(or a trophy bass for this state)? Hope that makes sense.
  14. Typically the knot connected to the lure
  15. Fluoro burns a little more Lol ya that could be my problem in all honesty
  16. I never thought it would loosen because of the guides but that could be it
  17. I thought you were supposed to put it back through the same way? Also I’m using mono I’ve been using mono which is a little different I know how to tie the knot I’ve been doing it for years and just recently I’ve had this problem
  18. I live in Ohio where the water is still cold af. I have used an Alberto knot to connect braid to my mono leader for a while now but I’m experiencing some new problems. I tie my knot pretty good, but in this cold water it is slipping through. It’s driving me crazy. Has anyone else experienced this up north?
  19. Stren has barely any memory now Idk I decided to put mine in the closet and keep using stren after my experiment
  20. Do you use fluoro as a leader?
  21. Keep me updated on how the Defier performs
  22. Ya like I said earlier I’m not spending that much for mono that is barely superior. BG is definitely unmatched for its price. I think stren is another good value
  23. First test was 3 yards, but the second was 2 yards. Dry. Improved clinch knot. Ya I started using fc as a leader, but I like mono more now. Much more forgiving.
  24. Ya i don’t know if I’m willing to spend that much on mono I use mono only as a leader, so do you think Defier has enough stretch for this application?
